This position was designed to direct and control the planning, processing and scheduling of materials and activities for customer contracts
Education:
Graduate degree required, although equivalent experience will be considered
Experience:
Experience in a manufacturing environment with strengths in production and inventory control, capacity and materials requirements planning, and production / shop floor activity control
Ability to read and comprehend mechanical and geometric drawings, along with an understanding of design, material and process specifications and how they can have affect on durations and schedules
An understanding of standard manufacturing route sheet structure, standard hours, durations, lead times, and key metrics such as utilization, efficiency and productivity
Possess a background in team oriented environments, a positive attitude, an ability to effect and accept change, a demonstrated ability to make well informed decisions and a positive perspective regarding the work environment
Excellent communication skills are required, along with the ability to influence other departments and disciplines to work together to meet the needs of the customer
Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Project Life Cycle Management (PLM) and Material Requirement Planning (MRP) systems and exceptional computer skills are required
Ensure compliance with the Department Operations Manual and all applicable Work Instructions in support of Elliott Safety, Quality and ISO (where applicable) requirements
Create and control production schedules and coordinate all phases of manufacturing orders ensuring all requirements and delivery schedules are met
Administer activities of bill of material structure, accumulation of inventory, and tracking of purchased, outsourced and manufactured components
Utilize computer assisted systems establishing schedule priorities, evaluating shop loads, maintaining the optimum level of inventory to satisfy customer requirements, and taking necessary actions to prevent and resolve overload conditions and delays in the manufacturing process
Identify and initiate procurement of raw and finished materials for the manufacture of components parts
Evaluate work center load
Calculate delivery estimates to support sales quoting process
Relieve capacity constraints by developing and implementing corrective actions
Provide order status to management
Requires regular interaction with personnel from other departments
May require contact with customer representatives, suppliers and subcontractors
Individual contributor - Position does not include the supervision of others
However, must possess the ability to supervise, guide and direct the activities necessary to achieve customer satisfaction
Requires the ability to elicit teamwork and cooperation from persons who are not direct reports, but who are critical to the completion of a task or project
Create and maintain schedules for manufacturing resources and work centers in assigned area
Manage capacity, load and buffer in order to plan and control activities
Manage schedule risk by anticipating issues and recommending remedial action to mitigate impact to customer delivery requirements
Analyze data, creation of recovery plans, and take actions including outsourcing decisions, overtime and staffing recommendations, and expediting as necessary
Manage and maintain the manufacturing bills of material for assigned area and administer bill of material classifications and migration process from the PLM system into the ERP system including any order and/or BOM/drawing changes that affect production or purchased/outsourced components
Coordinate with engineering/design to maintain accuracy of items and bills of material between the PLM and ERP systems.
Review MRP suggestions and exceptions in the ERP system planners workbench, utilize shop order visibility reports, release purchase requisitions, create internal work orders to satisfy demand, ensure purchased component required dates are accurate for purchasing
Manage internal work order start and completion dates to ensure schedule compliance
Ensure all processing and transactional activities are accurate and current included job completion, BOM roll ups, inventory accuracy, costing accuracy
Actively participate in regularly scheduled material review board (MRB) meetings in assigned area in order to ensure the timely and accurate disposition, processing and closure of all non-conformance (NCR) issues affecting production. Expedite as necessary
Maintain accurate capacity / load data for assigned area, provide information as necessary to support the monthly S&OP process as required
Establish and control inventory including component replenishment, assist in the yearly inventory obsolescence review, support yearly physical / WIP inventory process in assigned manufacturing area.
Assist and make recommendations for management of material authorizations (MAM’s) in the yearly review process
Schedule all customer witness points as required in assigned area(s)
Evaluate order exceptions and take necessary actions to resolve problems
Coordinate with methods/manufacturing engineering on routings for all components and shop floor activities
Create manufacturing route sheets
Participate in any shop floor auditing activities
Manage order activity to ensure the accuracy of job costing
To plan, organize, transact and supervise safe warehouse activities necessary to support efficient production and part distribution. Maintain schedules to production services, shop and production control requirements. Responsible to maintain accurate inventory and continuously improving efficiency of transactions.
Experience:
Working experience from warehouse environment and computer controlled inventory
Knowledge in receiving, receiving inspection and inventory control processes
Experience in warehouse computer controlled inventory
Fork-lift operator licence
Licensed ability to use cranes or have ability to train up
Skilled in packaging methods
Skilled in constructing export crates
Good verbal and written communication skills
To perform the function of receiving, warehousing and shipping (except does not arrange shipment)
Plans and supervises daily activities of storeroom operations
Ensures received goods are registered into a computer system and properly warehoused
Controls the flow of consumables and parts
Controls balance on hand accuracy
Implements and monitors appropriate metrics that accurately reflect warehouse performance
Maintains schedules to production services and production control requirements and shortage reporting
Responsible to maintain accurate receipt and issue records for all manufacturing and parts inventory
Requires interaction with personnel from other departments
Interaction with transportation agents and contractors of customers and suppliers
Maintain the stores and goods in areas in a safe, clean and organized condition, including plant, equipment, tools and consumables
Perform according to the Company policies and procedures the duties of receiving, warehousing and packaging.
Responsible for the receipt of all incoming raw materials from vendors.
Sling loads, unload trucks
Review the packaging or advice notes with the corresponding purchase order
Check for certificates when required by the purchase order
Verify quantities and descriptions of the goods against the purchase order
Maintain paperwork and inventory control records
Control inventory of limited shelf life items
Organize warehouse locations to simplify storage and retrieval
Perform inventory checks as required
Pick and package materials according to job requirements
When required, construct wooden export crates for parts and equipment
Ensure packed items are in good condition and properly preserved
Mark boxes
Perform any other duties as directed.
