Department
You will be part of Manufacturing Operation-India, Global Supply Chain, Cement who supports Capital and Service for Materials, Warehouse & Logistics. By joining this team, you will have the chance to work in an international environment involving different cultures and different challenges. This department works closely with both our internal and external customers to ensure FLSmidth equipment’s on time delivery and customer satisfaction. You will be located in the Arakkonam plant.
Role
The Production Engineer role at Arakkonam involves taking on complex technical assignments and assisting in the design of equipment, tools, methods, and services within production. This position is pivotal for maintaining product quality and timely production.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop detailed production schedules to meet project timelines and delivery goals.
- Coordinate with procurement, design, and quality teams to ensure the availability of materials and components.
- Monitor progress and adjust schedules or resources as needed to meet deadlines.
- Analyse and refine manufacturing processes for better productivity, reduced costs, and enhanced quality.
- Standardize operating procedures (SOPs, WI) and update them as necessary based on new methods or technologies.
- Supervise the fabrication, assembly, and testing of machinery used in cement manufacturing processes.
- Ensure production output meets FLSmidth standards and customer specifications.
- Ensure Safe working environment and Work closely with HSE team to identify the potential Hazard and to resolve issues promptly.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to resolve non-conformance issues promptly.
- Promote a culture of safety among the production team.
- Conduct skill enhancement and technical training sessions for team members.
- Participate in Kaizen events and other continuous improvement programs to optimize operations & lead time.
Your Key Accountabilities
- Adheres to production schedules and coordinates with material requirements.
- Collaborate with the design and NPD teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet specifications.
- Lead and motivate a team of production workers and technicians to achieve daily and defined objective goals.
- Direct corrections (corrective action) of any manufacturing problems that may arise; work with Quality Manager in development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Promotes a culture of personal and team safety, including others who may be affected by the company’s operational activities.
What you bring
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and manufacturing tools.
- Experience with metalworking, fabrication, and assembly processes specific to cement process machinery (e.g., welding, machining).
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for production management.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Education Qualification
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
3-5 years in a production or manufacturing role, preferably in the cement machinery or heavy equipment industry.
