The Role
As a Principal Structural Engineer with Worley,you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience.
Primary objective :-
- As Principal Engineer (Deputy to Department Manager - Offshore Structural) you will be responsible and accountable for providing oversight for all aspects of the Offshore Structural engineering activities including the definition and design of offshore structural engineering analysis and design of topsides, Jackets, and associated substructures.
- Manage offshore structural talents through engineering technical expertise (Concept, FEED, and detailed design), procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up and eventual handover of the plant and its associated facilities.
- The Principal Engineer (Deputy to Department Manager - Offshore Structural) has the authority and responsibility for overall management of Lead’s in execution of the engineering activities on the project to ensure the work is undertaken safely, follows the project design requirements and applicable codes and standards, is completed within the approved budget and schedule, is in compliance with contractual terms and conditions, as well as company policies.
Specific Accountabilities :-
- Technical competence of structural personnel (Training, Upskilling and Reskilling)
- Forecast requirement and allocation for structural engineering and Design resources
- Structural design integrity of work scope and maintenance of standards
- Identify structural software necessary to enable structural group to function effectively
- Interdisciplinary communication development
- Structural group communication development
- Prepare structural discipline man hour estimates to perform project tasks
- Check compliance with Alliance QA/safety/environment goals
- Manage structural engineering design and any design changes within budget and schedule
- Evaluate new technology advancements against existing design standards and revise where applicable
- Promote cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives, Value creation
- Promote career development within the group
- Identify and review new technology development, which could be applicable in providing more cost-effective facilities
- Technical supervision of project designated structural designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duties
- Digital adoption and acceleration by reducing manual efforts in project execution
- Benchmark structural design/drafting to identify areas of improvements
- Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Project
- Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the Project. Understand and follow OH&S procedures
- Demonstrable commitment to safety in design
- Managing and coordinating all technical reviews with stakeholders
- Enforcing the management of project change process (Management of change)
- Performance management, setting up KPI’s, Hiring and resource management, Competency and skill gap assessment and People connect
About You
To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:
- Applicants require experience in Offshore structural Engineering (Jackets and Topsides)
- The role mandates previous experience in minimum facility platform design and including both the substructure, topsides and bridges.
- A comprehensive understanding of structural analysis in the areas of dynamic loading and resistance, collapse analysis, spectral fatigue analysis, fire and explosion design, reliability-based analysis, dropped object etc. is essential.
- A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural)
- 20 years of experience, 10 of which has been in conceptual studies, FEED and detailed design of substructure, deck and bridges.
- 10 years Oil and Gas Industry experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
