Job Title









Principal QA Engineer

Amadeus is at a corner stone with both an ecosystem in Erding and progressively a move to the Cloud with Azure. The Non Functional Requirement, End-to-End platform test, Community and coaches (NEC) is a the department which aims to ensure high quality of our cloud deliverables. The organization has several missions:


  • Ensure the stability of the Cloud Platform thanks to our Cloud platform validation team focused on End to end test of the platform.
  • Act as an enabler for Quality Improvement of the Cloud Platform (defining the test strategy of the platform, managing the Quality Community of Practice of TPE, …).
  • Support Cloud teams when it comes to Quality through the whole development life cycle helping on validation and its associated automation.
  • Collaborate with the Platform component team to ensure quality at the component level.

Role:  Principal QA (Quality Assurance) Engineer with a combination of technical, analytical, and leadership skills to ensure the quality and reliability of platform components.


Common accountabilities:


  • Works with a high level of autonomy, based on management directions. Leads projects or contributes to broad cross-functional projects. May contribute to planning of resources and budget.
  • Understands how main business drivers may impact on own area. Can assess complex problems with broad impact on the activity, improve processes, recommend solutions and risk mitigation plans. Able to communicate complex information.​

Specific accountabilities:


  • Master QA methodology
  • For complex/cross-functional solutions, analyze, write and execute test standards and procedures
  • Document, analyze root cause, and recommend corrective actions for defects
  • Master QA tools, environments and test automation solutions
  •  Hold a proficient product domain knowledge incl. relevant business processes & scenarios and a proficient understanding of customer needs
  • Contribute to patents and technical events in the QA area
  • Coach, mentor & train less experienced QA Engineers, Software Development Engineers and Product Definition Analysts on quality assurance skills and professionalization.
  • Actively participate in the construction, maintenance, and deployment of the on-boarding of new colleagues.
  •  Provide consulting on test automation issues, testing tools, QA processes and functional test coverage
  •  Attend to Quality and Principal QA Engineer community events

Below are the key skill sets required for this role:


1. Technical Skills


  • QA Expertise:
    • Manual and automated testing (functional, regression, integration, performance, security)
    • Experience with testing frameworks.
    • Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC processes
    • Proficiency in writing detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts
    • Proficiency in automation tools (any)
    • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps

        Cloud and DevOps Knowledge:


  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Test Management Tools:
  • Proficiency with tools like Jira, TestRail, HP ALM, or similar
  • Database Knowledge:
  • SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) for data validation

2. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills


              •             Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills


              •             Ability to identify root causes of defects and propose solutions


              •             Data-driven approach to quality improvement


              •             Risk analysis and mitigation planning


3. Leadership and Mentorship


  • Experience leading and mentoring QA teams / Component Dev team
  • Defining quality standards and best practices across the organization
  • Collaborating with development, product, and business teams to align quality goals
  • Agile and Scrum methodologies, acting as a QA champion in cross-functional teams
  • Driving process improvements and automation adoption

4. Soft Skills
