Job Summary


Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Systems Safety Engineer to join the Avionics Systems Safety team in supporting the development of innovative aviation electronics solutions for the world’s leading commercial aircraft companies. 


Roles and responsibilities:


  • Perform an Avionics  safety assessment process in accordance with ARP4761/ Mil-STD882, including but not limited to, Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSAs), System Safety Assessments (SSAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs), Common Mode Analyses (CMAs)
  • Providing RAMS analysis solutions in support of programs and technologies
  • Working closely with in-house as well as US counter parts engineering teams (Electronics design, performance ) to deliver detailed RAMS analysis
  •  Should have competency to perform Reliability analysis, Which includes ( FMEA & Reliability Prediction)
  •  Strong electronics circuit understanding
  •  Should able to perform circuit analysis.
  • Support systems, hardware, and software engineering teams in defining system safety requirements during development activity
  • Serve as a systems safety architect and customer interface to capture, analyze, decompose, translate and create requirements for large complex systems.
  • Mentors teams on the utilization of internal processes, methods, and tools for systems development and documentation efforts. Drives new approaches, tools, and techniques based on needs identified in metric and defect trends in the enterprise.
  • Drives Discipline strategies that align with higher level business objectives
  • Helps steer the customer on how they can achieve their objectives
  • Lead technical proposal preparations and serve as the subject matter expert in non-advocate and customer systems reviews for large complex systems.
  • Recognized technical expert in avionics safety

Basic Qualifications


  • MEng / MSc or BE in an Electronics and Electrical Engg or similar engineering discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Significant  knowledge of ARP4761/ ARP4754 A
  • Demonstrated expertise with Windchill Quality System & CAFTA
  • Demonstrated expertise in aircraft or embedded systems
  • Good knowledge in reliability engineering theory
  • Effective oral/written communication skills (including technical writing)
  • Effective interpersonal and team skills
  • Demonstrated expertise on how to prepare and present technical information to peers, to all levels of internal management, and to external customers
  • Demonstrated expertise on how to coordinate several projects and complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules
  • Engaging in effective time management, working with a great deal of independence
