The Performance Tester, under the guidance of a Performance Engineer, is responsible for implementing performance test workflows, compiling test results, and generating preliminary test reports.


Plan Workflow Script Development


Works with the project team leadership, under the guidance of the project’s Performance Engineer:


  • To attend performance-related project discussions related to creating and validating performance test workflows
  • To reverse-engineer the workflow steps via browser developer tools
  • To implement the workflow scripts in the team’s preferred performance testing tool

Execute Performance Test Execution


With oversight from the Performance Engineer:


  • Coordinates with the project team to schedule the execution of the performance tests
  • Executes the performance test scripts on the appropriate test server(s)
  • May re-run the tests, as part of post-test optimization, as instructed by the Performance Engineer

Performance Test Results


  • Compiles the performance test results, in accordance with the direction from the Performance Engineer, generating specific charts and tabular data, as needed.
  • May generate additional test reports for the Performance Engineer, as part of post-test analysis and optimization

Run Post-Deployment Testing


  • May be asked to re-run the performance tests as part of post-deployment regression testing or performance monitoring.

Performance Related Knowledge Development


Stays up to date on the Performance Engineering Solutions’ standards and best practices, reviewing its knowledge base documentation and training material.


Focuses on continuing education related to all aspects of performance testing, especially languages, testing tools, and reporting skills.


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Computer Science

TECHNICAL SKILLS


  • Apache JMeter (or other performance testing tool)
    • Creating Test Plans
    • Running Distributed Tests
    • Generating Test Results
  • Experience with HTTP and REST
  • Azure DevOps, JIRA, GitLab, or other test planning and defect tracking tools
  • Familiarity with the SSDLC Phases
  • Microsoft Office Products
  • Agile Development Concepts
  • Industry Standard Programming Languages: Java, Groovy, JavaScript, or C#.

EXPERIENCE


  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the performance testing field

TEAMWORK SKILLS


  • Able to work in a highly collaborative environment and to consult effectively with team members and other personnel as part of an international team
  • Self-motivated and works autonomously based on guidance received from leadership
  • Communicates well with others
  • Effective organization and time management skills
