We are currently seeking an Operation Head, reporting directly to Head - MMY to join the team based in MMY - Dahej.


About The Role:


The candidate must possess around 22 to 25 years of experience on following Sub-functions / Areas: 


  1. Production Planning & Control (Pressure Vessels / Piping Spools/ Heavy Structures/ Process Modules)
  • Determine production requirements based on yard capacity and products / product mix.
  • Plan workflow and schedules for all production departments including covered shops & yard.
  • Review & Monitor production progress & status, resolve constraints and ensure timely deliveries. Assist in production risk assessment and mitigation activities.
  • Ensure that finished products meet quality standards and project / customer specifications.
  • Resolve production / resource issues to ensure smooth flow, manpower productivity and control project costs.
  • Monitor and analyze delays / quality issues with root cause to reduce its impact on Cost, Quality, and Delivery.
  • Ensure smooth operations and effective collaboration & coordination with other departments.
  • Strong Planning Skills for Critical Resources, Skilled Manpower & Qualifications, Machines, Cranes, Area, etc. 

      2. Safety & Environment


  • Developing SOPs, JSA, SIMOP and periodic review for its up-gradation
  • Lead/Support/Develop best practices and efforts with support from HSE team.
  • Evaluate events and operational results and support the revising / updating of site policies, procedure revisions, and training to address safety-related findings.
  • Good Experience in Material Handling, Working at Height, Confined Space, & Electrical safety controls in large yards & sites. 

      3. Change Management


  • Lead Continuous improvement culture among team members to deliver excellence in operations.
  • Knowledge transfer initiatives among inter and intra unit members to continuously improve the processes and systems
  • Identify opportunities for joint improvement projects and collaboration among departments and vendors. 
  • Taking the lead and ensuring continuity of operations with planned productivity & schedule.
  • Assist in new product development and in quality / productivity enhancements.

      4. Project Management (Large Yards & Construction Sites)


  • Own the CAPEX projects to improve quality, cost, productivity within timelines resulting in significant business improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure Onsite and offsite quality inspection of incoming materials to ensure the standards are met for quality parameters
  • Ensure completion of process improvement projects within a specified time frame while achieving a cost reduction goal.
  • Provide management with regular project status updates, feedback, and appropriate reporting on key responsibilities and objectives.

      5. Regulatory Compliance


  • Ensure all the relevant regulatory compliances applicable to the operations are adhered to.
  • Participate in periodic regulatory compliance audits from external and internal parties to continuously improve systems.

      6. Maintenance & Yard Upkeep 


  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure maximum equipment availability for operations.
  • Ensure implementation of QMS, EMS, OHSMS, and Operational Excellence guidelines for continuous improvement and maintaining standards in HSE & 5S. 
  • Coordinate and timely execution and commissioning of new development initiatives for improvements.

      7. Planning & budgeting


  • Propose the department P&B in the area of Consumption ratios, Maintenance cost, resources management, etc., to management for approvals and achieve the same by deploying resources.

      8. Customer centricity


  • Build a customer-oriented mindset both for internal & external customers.
  • Timely Managing customer visits / queries / complaints.
  • Ensure Quantity & Quality parameters of the products/services supplied to internal and external customers
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.


      9. People Management


  • Ensure team members are aware of their roles and responsibilities and deliverables.
  • Create an enabling environment of transparency & collaboration to discuss and share people’s issues.
  • Identify and facilitate appropriate training of competency gaps. 
  • Develop line managers into people managers to handle day to day grievances with the utmost sensitivity.

About You


  • B.E in Mechanical, Production & Civil Engineering
  • Specific experience of Fabrication/ Manufacturing / Large Size Fabrication Yards & Construction Site Management
  • Minimum +22 years in Heavy Fabrication, Large Site Fabrication, QC & Inspection experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Pressure Vessels / Exotic Piping Spools / Heavy Structures / Process Modules / Heaters.
  • Good knowledge of Materials (CS, SS, LAS), NDT (RT, UT, MT, PT), & Welding Processes. 
  • Knowledge of quality & inspection procedures, fabrication and construction work sequences of various products.
  • Adequate knowledge of codes standards such as DIN, ASME, DOT, API, OSHA, and AWS
  • Self-starter, People Manager and a strong team player 
  • Has handled large teams of Supervisory Staff & Engineers (+50 nos.) and Subcontractor Skilled Manpower (+1000 nos.). 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer knowledge (MS-Office), Primavera / MS-Project 
  • Experience & Exposure in Welding and Fabrication Automation and Digitalization.
