Officer – Observability Engineer
Role Summary
As Observability Engineer, you will play a vital role in implementing and maintaining monitoring solutions using Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana and Open Telemetry technologies. You will work closely with Platform engineers, Cloud DevOps engineers, Application developers, and Infrastructure administrators to build End-to-End monitoring for State Street Infrastructure and Applications.
Job responsibilities:
Configure and manage data sources for such as Prometheus, Dynatrace, Splunk, Azure Monitor & AWS CloudWatch for building dashboards in Grafana.
Collaborating with DevOps engineers, system administrators, and software developers to understand monitoring requirements and design appropriate Observability solution.
Customizing and extending Grafana functionalities through plugins and scripting to meet specific application monitoring needs.
Optimizing dashboard performance and usability by tuning queries that retrieve data.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Grafana configuration, data ingestion, and visualization.
Use Jira & Confluence for project management and tracking
Adhere to State Street Change control, Incident Management, Problem Management processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in building / enhancing the visualizations for any Observability solutions
Familiarity with Event Management or Application monitoring concepts.
Experience with any observability tool such as Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, Splunk, Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch.
Familiar with one or more scripting languages such as Unix Shell, Windows PowerShell, JavaScript, Python, or Go for customizing Grafana functionalities.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot network communication problems.
Must be comfortable working with Windows or Linux command line.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders.
