Role & responsibilities:

• Architect and design a scalable, high-availability Moodle LMS solution in AWS Cloud.
• Lead the customization, extension, and integration of Moodle with third-party applications.
• Optimize PHP, MySQL, and application performance for large-scale deployments.
• Implement containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes for efficient application management.
• Drive plugin development, API integrations, and custom features to enhance Moodle’s functionality.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers, ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to manage CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for streamlined deployments.
• Ensure compliance with security standards (GDPR, SOC 2, 21 CFR Part 11, etc.) as applicable.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and lead performance tuning and optimization efforts.
• Stay updated with the latest trends in Moodle development, PHP, AWS Cloud, and modern DevOps practices.

Candidate requirements:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in PHP development, with at least 5 years focused on Moodle customization and architecture.
• Deep understanding of Moodle core architecture, database schema, and plugin development.
• Strong experience with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, and IAM for secure and scalable cloud architecture.
• Hands-on experience in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and deploying applications in Kubernetes clusters (EKS preferred).
• Strong experience with MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL, including query optimization and performance tuning.
• Experience working with Moodle Web Services (REST, SOAP), APIs, and external system integrations.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AJAX, and front-end frameworks for Moodle UI enhancements.
• Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated deployment strategies.
• Knowledge of LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) and standards such as SCORM, xAPI, or IMS Global.
• Strong understanding of role-based access control (RBAC), authentication mechanisms (SSO, OAuth, LDAP, CAS), and security best practices.
• Experience in leading development teams, conducting code reviews, and enforcing coding standards.
