The Manager of IAM Operations plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and security of the organization's digital assets by managing the provisioning and de-provisioning of user access rights and the fulfillment of certificate requests and revocations. This role involves overseeing the team that implements, maintains, and optimizes the organizations' Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems and processes. The position collaborates with various stakeholders to develop and enforce access control policies, mitigate security risks, and streamline user authentication and authorization procedures.
Identity and Access Management (IAM):
Develop, implement, and maintain IAM policies, procedures, and standards.
Manage user provisioning, de-provisioning, and access requests in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the configuration and administration of IAM tools and technologies.
Monitor user access rights and permissions, ensuring appropriate levels of access are granted based on job roles and responsibilities.
Certificate Lifecycle Management:
Oversee the issuance, renewal, and revocation of digital certificates.
Implement and maintain processes for managing certificate requests, approvals, and deployments.
Monitor certificate expiration dates and ensure timely renewal to prevent service disruptions.
Maintain an accurate inventory of all certificates deployed across systems and applications.
Access Control Governance:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define access control requirements and enforce access control policies.
Conduct periodic access reviews and audits to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
Investigate and resolve access-related issues, including unauthorized access attempts and violations of access control policies.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess security risks associated with user access and provisioning processes.
Implement controls and measures to mitigate security risks and vulnerabilities.
Stay updated on emerging threats and vulnerabilities in IAM technologies and practices, and implement appropriate countermeasures.
Process Optimization:
Continuously evaluate and improve IAM processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Automate repetitive tasks and streamline access provisioning and de-provisioning workflows where possible.
Provide guidance and support to end-users and stakeholders on IAM-related issues and best practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to user access rights, provisioning activities, and access control policies.
Generate reports and metrics to measure IAM system performance, performance against service level agreements, compliance levels, and security posture.
Communicate key findings and recommendations to management and relevant stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or equivalent certifications preferred.
Proven experience (3 years) in identity and access management, with a focus on managing the team that is responsible for user provisioning and access control.
In-depth knowledge of IAM technologies, standards, and best practices (e.g., Active Directory, LDAP, SAML, OAuth, RBAC).
Experience with IAM tools and platforms such as SailPoint, Okta, Azure AD, or similar solutions.
Strong understanding of cryptographic concepts, PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), and certificate management protocols (e.g., X.509, SSL/TLS).
Familiarity with certificate management tools and platforms (e.g., OpenSSL, Microsoft Certificate Services, Hashicorp Vault).
Strong understanding of security principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
