About the position:
The Mechanical Engineer is part of the Materials, Equipment, and Quality team within Chevron’s ENGINE Center and is responsible for providing expertise in areas in the mechanical design, thermal design, and fluid flow of multiple types of unfired heat transfer equipment. This role supports the design, fabrication, and troubleshooting of various types of heat exchangers: Shell & tube, air coolers, brazed aluminum, etc.
Key responsibilities:
Thermal-hydraulic design calculations and analysis of new and existing heat exchangers using HTRI to evaluate performance.
Review mechanical design of new heat exchangers
Review heat exchanger mechanical design of existing heat exchangers to troubleshoot performance or leakage issues and propose solutions
Perform heat exchanger monitoring and analysis to identify performance issues and propose solutions
Review vendor design packages for new heat exchangers
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering from a recognized (AICTE) university
Proven experience with design, fabrication, and troubleshooting of various types of heat exchangers:Shell & tube, air coolers, brazed aluminum, etc.Application of ASME BPVC, API 660, API 661, TEMA
Skilled in the use of HTRI software
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in the mechanical and thermal design of heat exchangers
Advanced degree in mechanical or chemical engineering (Masters or Doctorate) with focus on heat transfer
Oil & gas or petrochemical experience, or experience working with a heat exchanger fabricator
Experience with PRO II, HSYSY, INSPECT, or PV Elite software
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
