Role Definition (Key Result Areas - KRAs)
- Fully demonstrates in-depth knowledge, experience and works as a subject matter expert on Built To Print commodities. Works independently, receives guidance in only moderately complex situations.
- Continuous involvement in the Supplier Selection Process to develop a supply base that provides competitive advantage in quality, value/cost, delivery and technology.
- Interact with New Product Introduction teams to ensure suppliers are involved in the development and review of specifications to promote design for manufacturability.
- Evaluates technical requirements of new and existing products. Applies knowledge of qualified sources and products to recommend materials to Design Engineering, which would result in savings, lead time reductions, system improvements, increased life and/or mitigated risk.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks
- Lead supplier problem resolutions, drive root cause and correction actions at suppliers and communicate back to cross-functional team.
- Support new product development/introduction by reviewing process specifications, engineering drawings, and first article inspections to ensure integrity and clarity.
- Drive systemic supplier process improvement plans for reducing quality defects.
- Conduct audits at supplier sites – part to print verification, quality management system review, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Proliferate key learnings and BKMs (best-known methods) into the Supplier Base.
- Engage in new product development programs – providing supplier perspective into drawing reviews and product design phase.
- Support Pilot and Volume manufactory sites as the supplier engineer for specifically assigned suppliers.
- Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
- Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies.
Key Deliverables (KPIs)
- Vast knowledge of supply base for different type of Built to print commodities.
- Understand current sourcing map and be aware of opportunities for improvement in scale, quality and cost.
- Understand industry requirements by interacting with our internal business units to explore the possibilities of alternate/new suppliers for BTP.
- Assist in the supplier technical audit process and evaluate supplier performance and capability, drive continuous improvement opportunities at supplier.
- Assist with quality problem resolutions and incident management, drive root cause and correction action.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- Total 8-15 years, Minimum 6 years in Supplier Development and Quality of build to print parts / assemblies.
