A Mechanical Design Engineer (MCAD)is responsible for design and release of components that are used in conjunction within an assembly to meet the overall performance requirements of a product. MCAD works in the PowerDrive Systems organization collaborating with Mechanical development Engineer, Program Lead Engineers and support CAE Engineers. He must be capable of completing work requests from the Program Lead Engineer(s) to meet program performance requirements and timing. The MCAD is responsible for generating 2D and 3D CAD data of these designs. He should work under minimal supervision while developing designs, and stack-ups of individual parts or assemblies. He is also responsible for checking detail drawings and layouts which also includes producing detail drafting and other drafting related tasks as required. 

Key responsibilities


  • Strong understanding of automotive ECU controller and/or Electric Driveline and/or Traditional (ICE) Driveline systems and components.
  • Understanding and interpretation of component and sub-system design requirements provided by program leads.
  • Generating design concepts and creation of math models independently to support program team.
  • Perform MCAD activity on new or support existing projects.
  • Create, evaluate and document mechanical designs using corporate tool set (UG/TcEng).
  • Create and update 3D parts / assemblies / drawings.
  • Support ME Documentation requirements in line with ME Design processes.
  • Make sure the drawings follow internal standards and procedures.
  • Attend project Team meetings
  • Support Mechanical Verification activities, requests, tolerances stack-up (2D sack up and 3D stack up using 3DCS) and documentation.
  • Support Change Management process as required.
  • Be part of the discussion with suppliers during the development and sourcing activity.
  • Communication/presentation of our results the Team
  • Exchange 3D data with supplier and customer 
  • Manage BOM’s

What we are looking for


  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field
  • Good Mechanical Engineering background
  • Minimum of 3 years of related engineering work experience in design field
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining 2D/3D technical drawings/models using NX CAD Software and PLM knowledge in Teamcenter.
  • Tolerance stack-up experience is required preferably in 3DCS
  • Previous design experience in Power Electronics/ EV Driveline and/or ICE Driveline systems
  • Understanding of the relationships between manufacturing processes
  • PC Literate, Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience

Preferred Requirements


  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of related engineering work experience in design field
  • Experience in ECU controller / EV Driveline and/or ICE Driveline systems
  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining 2D/3D technical drawings/models using NX CAD Software and PLM knowledge in Teamcenter.
  • Tolerance stack up experience is required preferably in 3DCS
  • Self-directed/self-motivated
  • Excellent drive for results with the ability to coordinate projects from start to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Project)
  • Technical Writing
