Qualifications
·Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
·Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as a Tooling Designer.
·Hands-on experience assembling, operating, trouble-shooting and qualifying tooling.
·Excellent breadth of experience in machine component and mechanical system design.
·High degree of mechanical aptitude.
·Highly knowledgeable of standard manufacturing processes.
·Highly knowledgeable in the use of inspection tooling.
·Ability to optimize tool design to ensure high reliability.
·Ability to implement lean practices into the design of the tools to streamline operations while maintaining strict safety standards and quality control measures.
·Ability to collaborate with other engineers to develop innovative tooling solutions for complex problems.
·Thorough knowledge of typical metallic alloys and coatings used in the construction of manufacturing tooling.
·Proficient in 3D CAD Modeling.
·Ability to create detailed drawings including the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to convey precise manufacturing specification and assembly instructions for out-sourced manufacturing of tooling.
·Experience soliciting proposals from vendors and working with vendors as the tool is manufactured.
·Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
·Must be self-directed and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and willing to take on new responsibilities which may be outside of normal day-to-day work.
Valuable Experiences
·Familiarity with Creo or Solidworks.
·Working with high pressure systems or vacuum systems.
·Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt Certifications.
·Working as a machinist or quality inspector.
·Working with presses, punch tools, progressive dies.
