Job DescriptionPrimary Function: A Material Engineer (Mechanical) is responsible for selecting, qualifying, and managing the mechanical components used in the design and manufacture of Agilent products. Ensures parts should be orderable and available for current and NPI products.
Key responsibilities include:
- Component selection: Evaluating and selecting mechanical components that meet the requirements of the product design, including performance, reliability, and availability.
- Part Qualification Checks: Ensuring that components meet the required specifications and quality standards by evaluating part specifications from the part datasheet and drawings available on the manufacturer's website.
- Part Creation / Maintenance: Creating and maintaining the part in Agilent Database (Teamcenter, Agile and SAP), including adding part specifications along with manufacturer part information and their respective data sheets, test reports, and quality certifications (for references for design engineers).
- Lifecycle Management: Managing the part life cycle by evaluating supplier initiated PCNs and PDNs and implementing the respective changes associated with them. Parts are marked as LTB or obsolete according to their current status and inform users to take appropriate actions at their end.
- Risk management: identifying and assessing risks associated with the use of specific components and developing strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Continuous improvement: Continuously improving component selection and qualification processes to optimize performance, reliability, and faster delivery of part information.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensuring all components are compliant with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as RoHS 2a.

- Communication skills: Material Engineer need to be able to communicate effectively with suppliers, manufacturers, and other members of the product development team. They should be able to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
- Knowledge of regulations & standards: Material Engineer should have a good understanding of regulatory requirements, such as RoHS and REACH. Should also be familiar with industry standards, regulations, and best practices pertaining to mechanical component design, quality control, and safety.
- Continuous learning: Material Engineer need to keep up with advances in electronic components and their applications in different industries. They should be open to continuous learning and development opportunities.

Qualifications1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering along with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience.
2. Should have good exposure/knowledge on Mechanical Components.
3. Procurement/Manufacturing background would be an advantage.
4. Knowledge of workflows through SAP / Agile system would be an advantage.
5. Must be good at Microsoft Office 365 tools.
6. Solid communication skills (verbal and written) to work with the supply base.
7. Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of Business Ethics.
8. Requires in-depth knowledge and experience in job and ability to work independently.
