Your responsibilities
Execute New Product & Current Product Feasibility study for machining capacity, Layout optimization and Continuous improvements, Tooling & Fixture design, Coordinating & supporting with various teams and suppliers to achieve scheduled project target, MBOM Creation & Change Management
Develop, Optimize and refine machining processes, including CNC programming, cutting tool selection, and job setup
Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for VTLs, and other machining centres to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability
Collaborate with tooling suppliers and production teams to design and select appropriate tools, fixtures, jigs and lifting devices to support efficient machining operations
Develop and maintain detailed process documentation including Process plan, PFMEA, Control plan, Standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flowcharts
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, SMED or other methodologies to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and lower production costs
Recommend new equipment and technology to improve machining capabilities and oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime
Work closely with the quality team to ensure that machining processes meet customer specifications and quality standards, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions when necessary
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through material usage optimization, scrap reduction, and cycle time improvements
Provide training and technical support to operators, technicians, and other manufacturing personnel regarding machining best practices
Act as a point of contact for resolving production-related issues, troubleshooting machine setups, and optimizing machining conditions to prevent downtime
Ensure that all machining processes and equipment comply with FLS safety regulations and environmental standards
Executing Green/Brown field Projects
New MHE/Machinery Procurement, Installation & Commissioning
Handling Capex projects - End to End ownership
Training & Coordination:
Design and implement training programs that address both technical skills and safety procedures.
Continuously update training content to reflect industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory changes
Facilitate effective training sessions to Production employees / Contingents at various skill levels
Utilize a variety of training methods, including hands-on demonstrations, simulations, and e-learning tools
Assess and adapt training techniques to meet the diverse needs of trainees
Evaluate trainee performance through assessments, tests, and practical exercises
Provide feedback and support to Production employees / Contingents to help them improve their skills and knowledge and their supervisors
What you bring
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with deep understanding of GD&T principles
Strong understanding of machining processes, including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding
Experience in designing technical requirements, managing projects and implementation of Capital assets – Machining centres and Fixtures, SPMs, MHEs, Cranes etc.,
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam Experience in CAD software
Thorough knowledge in manufacturing concepts (Lean manufacturing, Tooling Controls etc.,)
Hands on experience in ERPs.
Experience with advanced manufacturing techniques such as automation, robotics, or additive manufacturing.
Familiarity with Assembly processes and Paint processes
Certification in Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or Lean Manufacturing methodologies
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Education Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / production engineering from a reputed University
Experience
8-10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering / Process Engineering / Technical in Heavy Equipment Industries with proven expertise in machining
