The Content Systems Engineering (MSC) team builds applications and services that power Warner Bros. Discovery’s content supply chain, supporting the entire media lifecycle—from idea to distribution. Our solutions enable thousands of internal users to seamlessly produce and distribute content across platforms, including Discovery+.
Roles & Responsibilities:
We are hiring Software engineering manager Dev & Test to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for test automation, strike a balance between test coverage and test quality, architect and code automated tests across multiple delivery pipelines, and establish best practices & processes which improve developer efficiencies and product quality. The ideal candidate should understand the Automation development framework design and architecture across backend, data and frontend systems.
The ideal candidate will also have a track record of having worked with multiple cross-functional teams and test activities as part of the overall product release pipeline. Your work and your approach to work are exemplary: you drive best practices and set standards for your team. You are a key influencer in your team’s strategy and contribute significantly to team planning. You show good judgement making trade-offs between immediate and long-term business needs. You are a collaborative partner that makes other team members around you more productive, by sharing your knowledge, and helping to tie-break key technical decisions. You provide mentoring to others.
Expectations:
Scope and Complexity: You have subject-matter expertise related to one or more production software systems and demonstrated a pattern of ensuring the high-quality delivery of feature changes in those, or similar, systems. You execute and build automated tests by contributing new code that builds on top of what other engineers have written. Decision Making: You can contribute to test plans for more complex feature enhancements involving yourself and one or more additional engineers. You make clear determinations on defect severity based on considerations of customer experience. Execution: You need little oversight to work within the team’s software development lifecycle practices. You can help newcomers to be productive with the team’s processes. You consistently contribute to and improve automation efforts through direct code contribution and/ or integration of automation into the software development life cycle. You use your knowledge of interconnected systems and technology to come up with methods to test difficult cases. Operations You think about the long-term health of your test suites, both manual and automated, and you endeavor to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of release/ deployment processes through proper stakeholder communications, documentation, and use of monitoring tools. Influence You ensure that testing efforts and testability are considered when new features are being planned and built. Your team trusts your work and the feedback that you give to them on their work. Communication You are an effective communicator as exemplified by your documentation and your interactions with stakeholders and adjacent teams.
What to bring:
14-18 years of experience in building and growing a distributed team of quality assurance engineers with strong skills in framework development, test case development, test automation, test case optimization, load test execution, and test result reporting.
5+ years’ experience in large scale global product launches through a scalable automated release pipeline workflow leveraging CICD workflows and QA automation workflows.
Understanding of QA automation workflows, CICD release pipelines, test environments across multiple products and release within an agile development framework.
Experience of working with backend services engineering and QA teams to coordinate dependencies and release planning.
Knowledge on Python, Java, JavaScript, AWS, Selenium, Postman and tools like JIRA, Docker, Grafana, Jenkins, Github.
Have participated in building Automation frameworks for large and complex applications using Pytest, Cucumber and Performance testing tools.
Have ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to meet aggressive goals and pre-defined measurement criteria
Have strong written communication, problem solving, process management, cross-team collaboration, and high customer empathy
Comfortable handling multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to scout emerging industry trends such as AI testing and other best in class processes.
Able to collaborate and work with development teams across multiple time zones and locations
Knowledge of various test activities across release pipelines to promote artifacts from lower environments like dev, QA to prod environments, including unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, E2E testing etc.
Good understand of data engineering systems, includes data ingestion, data analytics and reporting for Qa and automation perspective.
Demonstrated ability to define and present metrics that help illuminate our quality and quality goals.
Proven ability to hire top talent and develop team members into roles of greater responsibility.
