What Data Management and Governance contributes to Cardinal Health


Over the last 20 years, the notion that data and analytics can have a profound positive impact on the success of Cardinal Health is much more widely understood and embraced.  As a result, the company has significantly increased investments in building capability – underpinned by high caliber talent and best in class tools.  In parallel, the company has implemented an information management and data analytics career path and a several data governance councils.  Building data and analytics expertise is now viewed as an “enabling capability” for the entire company – one of our top priorities.


The Master Data team plays a critical role in driving a consistent customer experience across both Pharma and Medical segments.  We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead our effective team to provide an excellent customer experience and take master data to the ‘next level’ – in close working partnership with our business partners across the company.  The ideal candidate is someone who is a confident, thought leader who embraces master data as a game changer, is not afraid to blaze new trails, and who is passionate about the customer experience

Educational Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree: In business administration, management, or a related field. Certain industries may require a more specialized degree.
  • Master’s Degree (optional but beneficial): An MBA or a master's degree in a related field can be advantageous, especially for higher-level management positions.
  • Relevant Certifications: Certifications like Project Management, Lean Six Sigma (OPEX) or industry-specific certifications can be valuable.

Professional Experiences:


  • 8-12 years of experience, preferred
  • Experience in a Leadership Role: Prior experience in a supervisory or management role, demonstrating effective leadership and team management.
  • Industry or Domain Experience: Understanding of the specific industry the manager will be working in, including its challenges, competitive landscape, and trends.
  • Project Management Experience: Proven experience in managing projects, meeting deadlines, and handling budgets.

  • Leadership and Team Management: Inspiring and motivating the team, providing clear direction, and fostering a positive work environment. The manager must be adept at managing diverse personalities and skill sets, and be capable of resolving conflicts constructively.
  • Strategic Planning and Goal Setting: Developing and implementing strategic plans that align with the overall objectives of the organization. This includes setting clear, measurable goals for the team and ensuring resources are effectively allocated to achieve these goals.
  • Performance Management: Continuously assessing the performance of individual team members and the team as a whole. This involves providing regular feedback, conducting performance reviews, and implementing performance improvement plans if necessary.
  • Resource Management: Efficiently managing the team’s resources, which may include budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure projects are completed within the allocated time and budget.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making: Identifying and resolving problems that arise within the team or in project execution. This requires critical thinking, a proactive approach, and the ability to make informed decisions quickly.
  • Communication: Maintaining open and effective channels of communication with the team, upper management, and other stakeholders. This includes clearly conveying expectations, changes in policy or strategy, and gathering feedback.
  • Development and Training: Identifying training needs within the team and facilitating professional development opportunities. This helps in keeping the team skilled and motivated.
  • Compliance and Best Practices: Ensuring that the team adheres to all company policies and regulations. Staying updated with industry best practices and implementing them within the team for continuous improvement.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Encouraging innovation and seeking ways to improve processes, products, or services. This involves staying informed about industry trends and advancements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively managing relationships with clients, vendors, and other external partners. This includes negotiating contracts, addressing concerns, and building strong professional networks.
