Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Manager Information Technology to join our Application Services -CAT IT division.

Caterpillar has been leveraging AI for years to deliver processes and products. Generative AI is a form of artificial intelligence which has a human-level of cognitive function, across a wide variety of domains such as language processing, image processing, computational functioning to mimic human-like reasoning. GenAI is an emerging technology that will play a vital role in profitable growth for Caterpillar.

 Caterpillar IT is working hard to enable a safe environment where the business can innovate and thrive. They have developed an Intelligent Automation Center of Excellence to operationalize Caterpillar IT’s GenAI COE services to deliver business value by developing deep expertise to be able to scale and drive efficiencies, ensure we are providing solutions using the right technology to support the growing demand for GenAI COE services.

The incumbent would  lead our team of developers in creating advanced applications utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Generative AI (GenAI). The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the development process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, innovative solutions that align with our business objectives.

The preference for this role is to be based out of Bangalore or Chennai location.

• Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Project Management: Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure successful project completion.
• Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical guidance on AI, ML, and GenAI technologies and methodologies.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies for the development and deployment of AI, ML, and GenAI applications.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and performance of developed applications through rigorous testing and validation.
• Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and present project updates.
• Continuous Improvement: Promote continuous learning and improvement within the team, staying abreast of industry trends.

What You Have:

• Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in IT management, with a focus on AI, ML, and GenAI application development.
• Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of AI, ML, and GenAI technologies, frameworks, and tools.
• Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and managing a team of developers.
• Project Management: Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Ready to work in shift: 01:00-10:00PM IST (EMEA Shift)

Skills desired:

Core Application Systems : Knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Manages application-related issues, implications, and approaches with clients.
• Evaluates key interfaces and interdependencies among core applications systems.
• Explains features and benefits of core applications for consideration by business units.
• Implements existing and planned application enhancements in major business units.
• Tracks data flow between own applications and core applications in other business areas.
• Plans enhancement, conversion, and retirement strategies for core applications.

Information Technology Trends: Knowledge of marketplace experience, developments and trends related to the organization's use of Information Technology (IT); ability to apply knowledge of IT appropriately to benefit the organization.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Discusses existing and planned IT technologies relevant to own function.
• Participates in at least one major IT initiative within own function.
• Discusses several pertinent technology trends.
• Reviews organization's recent experience in introducing new technologies.
• Seeks the appropriate experts to obtain information or ask questions.

Analytical Thinking : Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance.
• Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions.
• Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns.
• Identifies the major forces, events and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand.
• Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions.
