Job Title Engineering Analysis Manager
Division Weir Minerals

Purpose of Role:


This position is required for managing and leading engineering analysis team in the journey towards becoming a centre of excellence for WEIR. The role requires to technically and strategically lead and develop FEA , CFD and DEM capabilities to become a Centre of Excellence.


In addition the role demands Managing Analysis projects, planning and coordination of projects, supervising teams and researching new technology in analyses to improve the quality of deliverable and lead time of the projects related to Hydrocyclones, Centrifugal pumps, equipment structures used in mining industries, plant engineering 


The job profile requires undertaking finite element analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) activities across product engineering (NPD/NPI), OE etc.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Project management: Manage projects on FEA CFD & DEM in Hydrocyclone clusters, System level analysis CF Pumps & supports, compact plants, conveyors, valves/seat, failure analysis and other mechanical support structures .


  • Collaboration: Engage with internal and external stakeholders that include cross functional teams and global engineering teams, application engineering/sales team and customers as required . Take complete ownership of projects and engage in commercial, technical discussions & meetings with customers 


  • Hands on experience in conducting: Should be proficient with Ansys CAE tools Flagship products, Solidworks flow simulation & knowledge on CAD Modeling.


- 2 way FSI, Particle impact study   


- Static/ Dynamic analysis 


- Rotor Dynamics (Vibration) Analysis o Elastic-Plastic analysis


- Assessment of results from standards point of view. Component & support structure analysis of mining equipment


- Fatigue analysis


- Thermal analysis

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:


Required: BE / M Tech in Mechanical Engineering 


Qualification and Experience: 


  • Post Graduates with minimu14 years of Experience or Graduates with Minimum 16 years’ experience in similar role. 


  • Industry relevant experience. 


  • Practitioner in engineering simulation, design methodologies, simulation software & validation. 


  • Concept design and prototyping component and product level 


  • Experience in design, development, compact plants, conveyors and other support structures 


  • Proficient in using Microsoft office applications. 


  • Expert in data analysis, interpretation and scenarios building. 


  • Should be physically and mentally fit to perform laboratory work. 


  • Knowledge of international codes such as API, ASME Sec VIII etc.


Tools knowledge / Experience


  • CAD tools such as UG Nx / Solidworks – intermediate level


  • Simulation tools such Ansys / Hyperworks – Expert level


  • Matlab / Labview – intermediate level


  • Strong engineering fundamentals and product design knowledge


  • Process and domain knowledge


  • Sound mathematical concepts, Engineering calculations for design and analysis 


  • Concept design, prototyping, developed knowledge on manufacturing process,


  • Has good knowledge in NPI/NPD, DFMEA, PFMEA, DFx,


Prior Experience in below would be a good to have capability -


  • Good understanding on conveyors, plant structures, base frames, nozzle loads terminologies.


  • Broad knowledge and understanding of different stages of new product design and control processes. (VAVE, FMEA techniques.)


  • Prepare project scoping, outline requirement document, confirmation from stakeholders · Should handle multiple projects and responsible for project outcome


  • Lead and perform engineering calculations on concept design, develop component/product models and validate through simulations, physical tests. · Drive detailed DFEMA, PFMEA and DFx for design and manufacturing activities


  • Review progress reports, results sheet, and presentations. Perform manual calculations on to verify data.


  • Projects planning – PMP Cadence · Mentor team members and define growth plan


  • Conduct trainings. Develop product and process knowledge within the team
