WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a seasoned Data Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering team and oversee the design, development, and maintenance of our data products. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, architecture, and management, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. The Data Engineering Manager will be responsible for building and managing a high-performing team of data engineers, developing and implementing data engineering strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth.
The ideal candidate should have
12+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building and managing large-scale data systems
3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, with a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams
Strong technical skills in data engineering, including data warehousing, data lakes, data pipelines, and data architecture
Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including data modelling, data governance, and data quality
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data engineering problems and develop creative solutions
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
As an Engineering Manager, you'll be a key pillar of the data engineering team. In this role, you will
Lead and manage a team of data engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching to ensure the team's success
Develop and implement data engineering strategies, architectures, and roadmaps that align with business objectives
Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data systems, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data science, product, and engineering, to drive business growth and inform data-driven decisions
Develop and maintain data engineering standards, best practices, and processes to ensure high-quality data and systems
Manage data engineering resources and timelines to ensure successful project delivery
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and methodologies, and apply this knowledge to improve data engineering practices and systems
Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including business leaders and product managers
Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning within the data engineering team
