Sanofi Business Services (SBS), one of the 4 pillars of Sanofi’s Business Transformation organization, is setting up a captive Business Services center in Budapest to provide Finance & Accounting (Account-to-Report, Customer-Invoicing-to-Cash) as well as Employee oriented (Employee Experience) services. With respect to Account to Report (A2R) the Business Services center will be covering the following areas of the process:
Assets Management
Tax Accounting
Intercompany Accounting
Treasury Accounting

The Closing & Reporting Accountant reports to A2R Closing & Reporting Lead and works closely with Finance (Controlling, Treasury, Tax, Internal Control), other SBS departments, Customer Service and the A2R team.

Operation: Deliver GL monthly closing & reporting services to SBS ensure all automatic postings have been booked, AR & AP sub-ledgers closed, and Balance Sheet and P&L accounts closed ensure that all recurring and non-recurring items are collected, accounts reconciled, and Manual Journal Entries (MJE) booked. Supervise preparation of management, group reporting. Supervise prepare of ad-hoc reports and analysis.
Contribute to business reviews. Ensure compliance of processes, transactions and reports with Sanofi accounting policies, internal control guidelines and audit / SOX requirements, complete all activities as per global Core Model and operational KPIs. Develop expert level knowledge of the activities in scope as well as local knowledge of entities in scope and become a super-user.
Pro-actively anticipate operational issues and coach junior analysts. Build, document and transfer A2R Core Model process knowledge (Level 6/7) related to Closing and Reporting activities. Monitor month end timetable and important deadlines (Closing Calendar) Review and approve previously defined monthly/ad hoc tasks/transactions/etc.
Participate in trouble shooting and provide support and guidance for direct reports on queries, unreconciled and aged items, outstanding operational items. Monitor operational KPIs to pro-actively manage execution issues. Assist in standardization and common platform implementation in close cooperation with the manager.
Involve in migration and ad hoc project(s). Support business control testing requests and other internal audit requirements. Support implementing systems, procedures changes. Supervise and coach GL closing & reporting analysts. Act as escalation point when issues arise and provide solution in a timely manner.
Continuous improvement: Identify process improvement opportunities through elimination of redundant activities. Participate in process automation initiatives and ensure seamless adoption and transition. Continuous maintenance of the SOPs and DTPs.
Experience: Knowledge of IFRS and local GAAPs, 10–15 years of hands-on expertise in accounting processes and activities. Knowledge of GL accounting and reporting
Soft and technical skills: Functional: Knowledge of GL accounting and reporting, Experience in working within a Business Services organization (advantageous), Good business acumen (advantageous), Strong problem solving, deductive and analytical skills (advantageous).
People Management: Managing a team of ~10 – 20 employees supporting A2R operations. Ensure best in class employee engagement and inclusion. Shape and promote a culture of collaboration, trust and teamwork through leadership and effective communication. Focusing on employee engagement and their retention plan.
Evaluate employee performance, training needs & work on development plan. Onboarding training plan set for new employees. Motivate and reward employees by leveraging multiple tools as per HR framework.
Trainings: Determine the training needs of direct subordinates, provide the professional trainings of them according to the procedures and work instructions. Make up to date his/her professional knowledge, participate on trainings, study professional publications, make personal contact, set up benchmark goals, participate in professional community.
Education: Graduate degree in accounting or finance
Languages: Fluent in English
Working Hours: Be responsible for the period-end closing and reporting in accordance with Sanofi month end close schedule. The associate may need to work in different working hours during the month-end closing period for 5-7 days, depending on the region they support.
