Your Role and Responsibilities
The Learning Consultant is the representative of IBM Skills and Learning to our client Business Units (BUs) and Geographies (Geos). The SLC builds and manages relationships with stakeholders, driving powerful conversations to understand current and future initiatives and demand. Combined with expert knowledge and capability to facilitate world-class learning engagements, the SLC is responsible for shaping powerful learning experiences that build skills and enable IBMers to deliver world-class client experiences that win in the marketplace.

Roles and responsibilities


  • Learning Program Facilitator. Facilitate and lead the delivery of world-class education programs to the IBM Seller population. The delivery method is primarily virtual at this time, with occasional face-to-face engagements. This may change in the future to include a greater proportion of face-to-face engagements, so a willingness to travel and to engage with participants in a physical environment is also required.
  • Learning Consultant:
  • Partner. Build and maintain strong relationships as a partner to BU and Geo stakeholders. Combine business acumen and SME knowledge to understand key success requirements, set and manage expectations, and leverage the Skills & Learning ecosystem to deliver optimal learning experiences.
  • Collaborate. Engage regularly with other SLCs, HR, talent, and enablement to understand the global demand picture and use this to deliver with excellence, scale effectively, and optimize our impact.
  • Influence and advocate. Combine deep, data-driven understanding of BU and Geo requirements and KPIs with expert knowledge of our capabilities to not only deliver against requirements but be a force for change, envisioning new pathways to success and enhancing our value beyond delivery.
  • Curate and Develop. Participate and contribute to the ongoing analysis and design of skills and learning solutions, helping to ensure optimal alignment of our portfolio with the changing requirements of our clients.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise


  • 5 years experience as a learning facilitator in virtual and/or face-to-face environments; delivering innovative, engaging learning development events.
  • Experience working in and managing an adult learning environment, including class pre-work and setup, student communications, learning delivery, and post-workshop follow-up.
  • Strong collaborator with proven ability in building rapport and strong partner relationships with other teams needed to deliver effective training, including clients, admin, support, and operations.
  • Able to work flexibly and independently in remote (virtual), office-based, and face-to-face training environments as needed.
  • Empathic, curious, able to understand needs and match learning delivery to best fit those needs.
  • Proven ability to consult with business leaders to understand skill and capability gaps, translate these gaps into program objectives, and engage effectively with design and operations teams to construct effective learning programs that to measurably meet or exceed the stated business needs.
  • Consulting Skills: Ability to apply analytical and innovative thinking to develop and deliver high-quality solutions. Business acumen and high emotional quotient to build relationships and work effectively at different levels to influence and manage stakeholder relations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • Project Management: Some experience in managing projects and programs, including measurements and reporting.


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise


  • Sales or Sales Support background
  • Experience in skills- or learning program design
  • Experience in client consultancy; understanding, translating, and acting on stated business requirements and KPIs.
  • Fluent English
  • Experience working with Microsoft Teams in a training or team collaboration environment
