Organization overview:
Qualcomm XR Systems organization is responsible for system architecture and system software design for Qualcomm’s XR chipset platforms. We are scaling up our operations and we are looking for engineers experienced in systems architecture who will work on driving the next generation XR technologies and architectures, enabling the future of Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality / Mixed Reality applications. Responsibilities include working with lead XR OEMs and QC’s customer-facing teams to understand end to end use cases, mapping them on to existing architectures, defining and optimizing data flows, working with SoC design, dv, firmware, and validation teams and ensuring use case power and performance KPIs are met. The team is also responsible for providing guidance towards future XR SoC roadmap definitions. XR technology encompasses a broad range of features covering XR perception, local and remote rendering, camera, video, computer vision, communications and split compute topologies such as phone + glass and PC + HMD + cloud etc.
Job Overview
Qualcomm's XR Systems team is seeking a systems architect who will work on driving the next generation technologies and architectures, enabling the future of Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality / Mixed Reality applications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for (one or more of the following):
Identifying, understanding, and documenting use cases and implementations of AR/VR and related technologies
Development and prototyping efforts on technical workstreams for perception, reprojection and split-processing, including quality validation, latency/quality trade-offs etc.
Contribute on technical workstreams for sensor/display advancements, interface optimizations, reference design scoping for XR feature prototyping
System level use case modeling to validate and optimize architecture definition
Defining requirements for custom hardware accelerators and general purpose compute cores for XR features/flows & workloads
Defining and executing HW-SW feature analysis to optimize for power and performance
For this multi-disciplinary role an ideal candidate has proven expertise in AR/VR, computer vision, machine learning, perception, camera technology, hardware design, SoC architecture, HW/SW partitioning, and/or system modeling (power, performance, thermal).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and project experience in architecture/micro-architecture
7+ years of system engineering or related work experience
Excellent problem solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s and/or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science
Experience with Mixed & Augmented reality system design, constraints, and trade-offs
Extensive knowledge of graphics pipeline, reprojection and advanced rendering techniques, computer vision pipelines, machine learning methods and/or camera pipelines
Proven experience in conducting architectural trade-offs, power/performance analysis and/or SW-HW trade-offs
Experience with system level modeling (performance and/or power)
5+ years experience in one or more of above areas
C/C++ programming
