The Lead Software Engineer – Linux DevOps is responsible for integrating security practices and principles into the Development and Deployment of our Linux-based current and next-generation life sciences devices

This position reports to the Site Leader, IDC and is part of the Biotech Software Team located in the India Development Center and will be an on-site role.   

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Take true ownership of the Linux OS images and container-based build and deployment.
• Integrate security practices and principles into the development and deployment of the instrument software and Linux operating system used in electro-mechanical instruments.
• Develop and enhance tools and workflows to automate Linux OS image creation and deployment process.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, developers, and testers to enhance the security of the product and improve the efficiency of the project development, deployment, and release process.
• Prepares appropriate documentation as required by internal product development processes and regulatory agencies.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field with 7+ of software development experience in programming or automation scripts with focus on integrating security principle in OS, build, containers, and deployment environments.
• Experience configuring Linux operating systems preferably: creating disk images, package management, whitelisting software, secure boot, disk encryption, and firewalls.
• Experience in programming or automation scripts with focus on integrating security principle in OS, build, containers, and deployment environments.
• Good knowledge of security hardening procedures and Linux operating systems

• Must be comfortable with Linux and associated technologies (e.g., Bash, cron, filesystems, signals, sockets, pipes, processes, SSH)
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Podman) and their security considerations.
• Familiarity with developing production software for desktop computing or embedded devices

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Experience in medical / life science device design & development
• Experience working with static and dynamic security scan tools.
• Familiarity with secure coding practices
• Experience in vulnerability and threat management
