The Data and Artificial Intelligence Platform (DAP) group is a key component of Visa's Technology organization that provides the enabling technology and processes to handle Visa's data assets and deliver valuable information, products, and services to customers. GenAI Knowledge Assets is a new initiative within the Data and AI Platform organization. The Lead Data Engineer will play a key role in designing and developing an enterprise-level solution for GenAI Knowledge Assets. As a Lead engineer in Knowledge Management for GenAI development team, you will be part of Data and AI Platform organization based in Bangalore, India. You will be responsible and accountable for end-to-end development for Knowledge Management for GenAI. You will be unleashing new opportunities at Visa by 1) developing and driving the business strategy for AI / Gen AI and building Knowledge management orchestration to elevate GenAI applications in Visa, leading data product development to create value for Knowledge management assets Governance, GenAI Data Assets.

Essential Functions
Design and Develop APIs: As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and developing robust and secure APIs. These APIs will enable seamless interaction between the user interface of our ChatGPT-based applications and the GENAI platform. Additionally, you will be tasked with maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting these APIs to ensure uninterrupted and efficient data flow. Your role will be crucial in integrating these APIs, thereby ensuring their efficient interaction with the GENAI platform.
Strong technology background building enterprise scale applications using Java, Spring, REST APIs, RDBMS, and Angular or React.
Responsible for the overall development life cycle of the solution and manage complex products with significant bottom-line impact
Work with product managers in developing a strategy and road map to provide compelling capabilities that helps them succeed in their business goals.
Work closely with senior engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.
Instill best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high quality work on tight schedules.
Project management: prioritization, planning of projects and features, stakeholder management and tracking of external commitments
Operational Excellence: monitoring and operation of production services
Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards and processes.
Mentor junior team members, develop departmental procedures and best practices standards.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Basic Qualifications
• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Bachelor degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. Advanced degree preferred
• Requires 12+ years of experience, at least 3 of which were in leading engineering teams
• Full Stack Software Development experience in large scale mission critical applications.
• Mandatory experience with n-tier web application development and experience in J2EE or other frameworks.
• Solid experience in frameworks like Spring or Spring Boot, Sprint MVC, JPA, Hibernate.
• Experience working on UI, Web development using Angular or React, JavaScript, JQuery, and HTML CSS technologies is a plus.
• Proficiency with version control systems, preferably Git. Hands on with GitHub Copilot is a plus.
• Proficient in API Development using SOAP or REST, JSON and XML.
Familiarity with AI technologies, specifically with OpenAI's GPT models.
Strong knowledge of front-end technologies including CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, and relevant JS libraries.
Experience with modern web frameworks and libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
Excellent understanding of user-centered design principles.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proven experience delivering large scale, highly available production software. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast paced environment
A deep understanding of end-to-end software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time
• Strong business and technical vision
• Experience working in an Agile and Test Driven Development environment.
• Leading a module or team and mentoring experience will be a plus.
• Excellent presentation, collaboration and communication skills required.
