Role Title: Lead Data Analyst – Migration Design


Location: Chennai

The Axial Programme will be powered by S/4HANA a new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system which will be implemented right across the organisation and will provide our business with standardised processes, enhanced financial management, common data and real time reporting, transforming the way we work through our entire supply chain - from bench to patient.


The new system will be used by more than 20,000 employees daily, is foundational to all AZ entities and is central to most core business processes.  This is a once in a generation programme for AstraZeneca and will shape our ways of working globally for many years to come.

We are looking for a passionate Lead Data Analyst for AstraZeneca, a world leading Pharmaceutical company which operates in over 100 countries and is head quartered in the United Kingdom, translating business requirements into data requirements to create data structures and data integration paths. They will identify, profile and quality assess potential source data sets, understand and comply with any data restrictions and support the data design elements of the S/4 Programme.


What you’ll do


  • Strong SAP Data knowledge in multiple modules including SAP MM/PP/SD/P2P/FICO
  • Translate business requirements into data requirements to create data structures and data integration paths
  • Identify, profile and quality assess potential source data sets, understand and comply with any data restrictions (e.g. GDPR, etc.)
  • Support the design of target data models (compliant to any set standards)
  • Lead end-to-end management and execution of short or medium-sized projects and task-manage other data analysts or data developers as needed
  • Experience in coaching Junior Data Analysts and guiding team members to improve their skills for future Business (Data) Transformation
  • Good knowledge in improving operating models, ways of working and build the team to deliver effective data analysis services
  • Work with business & IT partners to understand the business and data requirements.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and perform data profiling.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex datasets.
  • Prepare a Data Contract, bus matrix, proof of concepts, source to target mapping, Data Gaps, Data Profiling and Impact Assessment.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
  • Understand conceptual and logical data models (3NF) and their application within IT project and business data governance processes.
  • Define data analysis standards and apply within all work products.
  • Work with multiple IT roles, including Data Architects, Integration Architects and Information Architects, to embed the use of data analysis & data models within both project and strategic activities.

Essential for the role


  • The role holder will possess a blend of SAP data requirement analysis, data quality analysis and data migration
  • Deep expertise within data migration space
  • Multiple implementations in Production planning involving Bill of Materials (BOM), Production versions, Work center, Routing, Recipes, Material master
  • Strong functional knowledge of and experience with SAP Data structures
  • Vast Exposure to Data Analysis - Ability to guide team to perform data profiling, data analysis and present the insights to the business.
  • Strong Exposure to IT Project Lifecycle and SAP Data management
  • Good Communication skills - should be able to interact effectively with the stakeholders.
  • Experience in translating requirements into fit for purpose data models, data processing designs and data profile reports
  • Experience in working relevant domains e.g. Pharma, R&D, Manufacturing, Clinical Supply, Commercial, Finance, HR, Legal, Facilities etc.
  • Knowledge on BI Tools and/Information Architecture are added advantages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and consultancy skills
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application and data design.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language.
  • Carry out Business As Usual (BAU) activities required by the role
