We at Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (‘ADSIPL’),are looking to hire a highly motivated, best-in-class cabling infrastructure engineer to join our growing team within its infrastructure operations. The candidate will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and to develop innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand.
Key job responsibilities
As LB-CI foreman job responsibilities will include end to end ownership of structured cabling for the data hall, the key responsibilities will be inclusive of but not limited to :
· Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center and ensure all safety and security related procedures are adhered to by Amazon staff and vendors alike.
· Installation and testing of copper and Fiber Optic cabling
· Creating/attaching labels and barcodes
. Understanding of test equipment (power meter / light source, OTDR, VFL,
network analyser, copper / fiber cabling test equipment)
. Basic build and troubleshooting of network devices.
· Managing inventory of related materials by checking and coordinating all materials to be delivered to site daily
· Adhering to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures.
· Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.
. Regularly work at heights and from ladders or mobile equipment work platforms
. Experience with a ticketing system
· Ability to travel within geographical work area is required. Occasional work in tight and/or narrow spaces, such as under raised floors
· Plan the cabling for new data halls by project managing the installation of fiber and copper connectivity, inclusive of vendor bid analysis, vendor allocation, purchase ordering (PO) and invoicing.
· Create and deploy new standards for network and infrastructure cabling installations.
· Oversee the installation and deployment of all cabling infrastructure, brick builds, fusion racks, corp connections and late binding across the cluster
· Ensure all projects are completed to schedule while ensuring the highest standards are met at all instances.
· Provide training and mentoring to less experienced Engineers and Technicians within the Infrastructure Delivery organization
· Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience as required.
· Manage the provision of and performance to operational performance metrics.
· Participate in hiring, staffing and development strategies for the cluster and the region.
Basic Qualifications
- Diploma/Graduation in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
- 4-8 years’ experience with network cabling (fiber optic & copper)
- 3-5 years of project management experience or operations planning experience
- 2-4 years’ experience with physical network infrastructure deployment and troubleshooting
- English language communication ability
- Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and network cabling.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment, displaying excellent time management skills and the ability to follow direction.
- Able to work at heights or use ladders for continued periods
- Have strong attention to detail, maintain high quality standards.
- Substantial background in large scale datacentre network implementations and support.
- Knowledge of Copper and Fiber Optic testing methodologies.
- Ability to read basic layout drawings and floorplans.
- Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CITY & GUILDS Cabling cert or equivalent).
- Previous experience working in a Data Center environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management).
