QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA, Master’s degree or other advanced degree
  • 2+ years of experience in research, consulting, or corporate or operational roles in the travel sector (e.g. hotels, airlines, tourism)
  • Superior problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You will be based in our Gurugram, India, Knowledge Center and will be part of our global Travel, Logistics & Infrastructure Practice (TLI), within our Client Capabilities Network.  
Colleagues in our global Client Capabilities Network deliver distinctive client impact through assets and expertise and are driven by a culture of innovation.
Our Travel, Logistics & Infrastructure group helps clients solve their toughest challenges when it comes to travel, i.e. getting people from one place to another and the logistics of moving goods around the world. They also advise clients on the best ways to build and maintain the infrastructure (airports, ports, roads, railroads) needed for these activities. Our aspiration is to help our clients be more efficient and sustainable. 
Depending on your area of focus or client needs, you may be asked to travel to your client site, which may be located in a different geography from where you are based.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a travel analyst, you will work across one or more of the core subindustries within travel such as aviation, hospitality, cruises, tourism, car rental, ideally specializing in one or two of them over time.  
You will coach and educate McKinsey colleagues and clients on travel related topics.
In this role, together with your team, you will problem solve and understand the knowledge needs of our clients and leverage your solid understanding of travel business trends, issues, and concepts to drive complex analyses. 
You will provide unique insights and deliver synthesized, actionable facts via end products (e.g., PowerPoint charts, written memos, models, frameworks) to both our client-serving teams and clients directly.
Additionally, as a member of McKinsey’s Client Capabilities Network, you will contribute to integrating insights from internal and external sources as well as develop expertise and thought leadership in key sector topics and themes. 
You will help develop distinctive proprietary knowledge and tools on select topics of client interest and build up the TLI knowledge base in Asia, specifically in travel. 
You will also support our leaders in developing new client opportunities, bringing your deep sector knowledge and mastery of proprietary tools to every client development situation. You may also be called upon to lead internal training sessions to showcase the latest approaches and developments in your area of expertise
You will work on client engagements in several ways – staffed as part of the client service team where you lead a workstream in your area of expertise, and/or provide short-term support delivering key insights on content-focused questions. While the amount of time spent staffed on client service team could vary, on average it is expected to be 50-60% of your time.
