QUALIFICATIONS
- Postgraduate degree in operations management, statistics or industrial engineering
- 1+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing, service-oriented, analytics firm with basic supply chain exposure is desirable
- Coding skills in Excel VBA, Excel Macros, R, Python or any other open source language
- Specific exposure to issues in inventory management, demand planning, production planning and scheduling, logistics optimization and IT in supply chain is desirable
- Excellent problem-solving skills including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines
- Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization and collaboratively within a team
- Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively
WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You’ll work with our Manufacturing and Supply Chain (MSC) service line of McKinsey’s Operations practice, based out of our Gurugram or Chennai offices. Our Operations practice assists our clients in solving complex operational challenges by developing and implementing operational strategies, initiatives and solutions for most critical problems.
The MSC Center of Competence is a group of expert consultants with domain expertise and analytical skillset in topics related to manufacturing and supply chain. It helps develop and implement solutions and strategies to solve manufacturing and supply chain problems. We do this by making significant improvements in customer service while reducing invested capital, optimizing cost by transforming their supply chains from end to end and improving productivity across the manufacturing set up. The team also supports on several dimensions of topics such as MSC diagnostics for assessment of improvement opportunity, MSC transformation support through process redesign and implementation of relevant solutions & frameworks, customized analytics and bespoke solution development using advanced algorithms, combinatorial optimization, statistics and simulation models.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will spend a significant part of your time solving complex client problems in the supply chain domain.
In this role, you will help develop optimal network configuration models for global supply chains of clients, stochastic simulation of inventory levels with the objective of creating a robust inventory policy, conducting diagnostics on supply chain health and performance for our clients.
You will spend a part of your time doing general analytical work for the whole clientele of McKinsey which includes usage of statistical techniques and operations research for data analysis. You will also support the development and maintenance of McKinsey’s proprietary manufacturing and supply chain and operations management tools and other knowledge development projects.
There is flexibility to hire at Knowledge Analyst or Senior Knowledge Analyst level, depending on your overall experience.
