The Security Engineer will create and execute strategic methods and solutions to support our information security program, as well as continually enhance our security position in response to the changing technology environment of the industry.
Primary Responsibilities
Collaborate with development teams and system owners to identify security risks and recommend mitigating controls
Develop and execute information security plans, procedures, and policies
Develop strategies to respond to and recover from security threats
Develop or implement open source/third-party solutions to assist in detection, prevention, and analysis of security threats
Perform offensive security testing activities, such as penetration testing, dynamic application security testing, and vulnerability scanning
Collaborate with Enterprise Operations, Engineering, and IT teams to implement security standards and ensure standards are followed
Research emerging threats, vulnerabilities and trends that may affect our product and organizational security
Assess potential risks and vulnerabilities in company’s services and infrastructure and lead remediation
Leverage native GCP, Azure, and AWS cloud services to automate and improve existing control activities
Drive programmatic monitoring of cloud security posture across all F5 systems
Perform technical security assessments against the F5aaS enterprise
Collaborate with Global Cyber engineering for security investigations
Demonstrate F5aaS’s dedication to security to our customers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of security principles, concepts, and best practices
Experience with threat modeling methodologies (e.g., STRIDE)
Knowledge of security testing tools and techniques, including automation and reporting
Proficiency in programming languages (Python, JavaScript, Java, C) and scripting
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Expertise in designing secure cloud networks, systems, and application architectures with a focus on AWS, Azure and GCP cloud platforms
Hands on experience with configuration management and cloud security posture management solutions
Experience assessing and implementing security controls in all relevant areas (including access management, encryption methods, vulnerability management, network security, application security, etc.)
Knowledge of common technologies in company stack (Big-IP, CentOS, Kubernetes)
Experience with network and application vulnerability and penetration testing tools
Qualifications
B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical degree
Advanced industry certification in relevant field (e.g., Ethical Hacker, CISM, CISSP)
2 to 3 years of meaningful work experience as an application security, network security, or general security engineer with focus on cloud computing.
