Innovation Lead – Medical Affairs

The purpose of the Innovation Lead – Medical Affairs role is to lead, optimize, test, and drive adoption of new technology and process improvements identified through their efforts externally as well as by Tech@Lilly, Lilly Marketing Studios (LMS), and team members from within the Global Medical Affairs Organization (GMAO) for pull thru within the Lilly Medical Affairs Capabilities Hub (L-MACH) to support Content Capabilities across the lifecycle of content development, quality medical review and operational support. This person will lead these critical initiatives with other team members to accelerate innovation for content to support Medical Affairs.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Innovation Lead – Medical Affairs role will use business acumen and a strategic mindset to drive solutions and results, scale L-MACH abilities, and maximize capacity and output. This role will utilize technology to evaluate and monitor throughput, anticipate and resolve operational challenges, and identify opportunities to ensure quality, speed, value, and compliance aligned with GMAO and L-MACH Strategies.
This role will partner with GMAO, L-MACH, and other cross-functional organizations such as Tech@Lilly and LMS to identify areas for innovation, develop strategies to improve adherence and compliance with business processes, improve data accuracy, help accelerate reach and scale, and identify and establish automation or other technological means for improved processes. This role will require building strong cross-functional relationships to ensure new processes or technologies are implemented through organizational change management practices, including assisting in strategy development, creating communication and training materials, and presenting them to internal or external partners to help ensure successful implementation. This role will work closely with the Medical BRIX team, L-MACH, LMS, and the Medical Affairs Content Ecosystem team to enable innovations to support content capabilities to achieve the objectives of reaching the patients faster.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
Innovation Associated With Capacity, Utilization Optimization, and Platforms
Ownership and ongoing management of the L-MACH project management/workflow tool, configuration, integration, and establishment of best practices to support modularized content and areas that will remain more custom content within L-MACH.
Be a Subject Matter Expert with the L-MACH project management/workflow tool and support other teams.
Report potential or anticipated issues with workload and team health.
Effectively manage and distribute dashboards to report key performance indicators in partnership with L-MACH resources.
Identify and recommend opportunities to reduce cycle times and rework while maintaining quality and compliance.
Partner with other GBS teams including but not limited to GBS Capabilities and Automation Solutions to execute and implement innovation initiatives through platforms like “IDEALLY.”
Measure, track, and report productivity and efficiency parameters and data through quarterly and yearly business reviews
Conceptualize, build, and implement projects and innovative solutions to increase productivity and efficiency
Build new tools in partnership with technology teams to increase speed to market or reduce cycle times
Champion organizational innovative strategy formulation, implementation, evaluation, and control aligned with the strategic intent and objectives of Medical Affairs, GMIIC, and L-MACH
Identify and generate ideas, evaluate and select sustainable ideas, develop and prototype solutions, implement and scale, and monitor and report automation and innovation opportunities across people, processes, and technology
Content Creation and Approval: Best Practices, Technologies, and Platforms
Be a Subject Matter Expert in L-MACH creative, storage, approval, and content production platforms and processes to understand how to improve effectively
Identify and recommend opportunities to improve productivity by using new processes or technology.
Support Creative/Content OCM initiatives involving L-MACH
Coordination with best practices and sharing with the LMS team to drive efficiencies
Utilize a new or existing suites of products or technology including but not limited to Generative AI, translation capabilities such as Lilly Translate, project management software, MS Power Applications, Adobe Applications, etc. to effectively manage end-to-end content supply chain
Harness existing tools and technology to leverage the benefits and close the gap wherever applicable or new avenues identified through the exploration process

Foster a culture of innovation within the organization
Maintain effective communication with L-MACH Managers, Strategy and Capabilities Lead, Project Managers, Account Managers, and other team members
Creating and socializing plans that support the organization’s innovation efforts

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Experience in an advertising or digital production agency environment with marketing or medical content development exposure.
Experience being a “power user” or administrator of a project management software tool.
Experience in project management.
Demonstrated business acumen to provide customized innovative solutions to help achieve organizational objectives
Technology experience in a concrete technical role.
Understanding of agency technology stack (Adobe, Veeva Products, AI platforms).
Proven ability to embrace digital transformation, drive changes, and leverage technology to solve business problems.
Previous experience using one or more project management or resource planning software tools such as Wrike, Jira, Workfront, Trello, BaseCamp, etc.
Demonstrated ability to achieve results by proactively engaging with people across functions and leading without authority.
Proven ability to be curious, accountable, adaptable, and learn quickly in a complex and dynamic environment.
Demonstrated ability to leverage data to drive shifts in behavior.
Agile or PMP certification.
Experience or certification in PowerBI applications and dashboards. Experience with project management approaches, including Agile methodologies.
Ability to develop and implement strategy across people, processes, tools, and organizations.
Strong leadership, management, interpersonal, problem-solving, negotiation, influencing, motivational, project management, and critical thinking skills with the ability to use effectively in a team, cross-functional, matrix, and global environment.

Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, clinical development process, and scientific communities.
