As an Infrastructure Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you develop knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Through this work you begin to apply your proficiency in a single application or technical methodology.The Infrastructure Engineer role in the Mainframe DB2/IMS team, within the MMC (Mainframe and Midrange compute) organization, is responsible for planning, designing, installation, configuration, and support of highly resilient and stable Mainframe DB2/IMS infrastructure employing automated scripting where feasible.
Job responsibilities
- Applies technical knowledge to assignments with a defined scope such as testing the performance of the infrastructure and understanding and verifying that requirements were successfully met
- Drives results, collects and analyzes monitoring data in test and production, and sees assignments through to completion
- Carries out day to day work assignments with some guidance and within documented parameters
- Executes project and internal initiative responsibilities as assigned or delegated
- Participate in incident and problem management activities related to application and DB2/IMS
- Perform problem diagnostics and resolution as well as change management
- Collaborate with other team members within same Information Technology departments, functional users, and vendors to provide guidance and manage project implementation.
- Develops considerations for upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implication
- Provide 24*7 on-call support Mainframe Infrastructure
- Develop and maintains operational documentation, best practices, and run books for the operational platform.
- Implement tools and procedures required to maintain a very stable environment
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 2+ years applied experience
- Proficient knowledge of hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments
- Experience with DB2 system programming experience in a mainframe z/OS operation systems supporting SMPE, RSU maintenance, new DB2 builds and v13 upgrades.
- Experience on DB2 tools such as IDAA, Insynch, QREP, USP Tools, Guardium, CA Broadcom and CDC Replication
- Strong knowledge on IMS systems programming experience in a mainframe z/OS operating system supporting IMS subsystems in USS (Unix System Services), IMS z/OS V14 – Installation and Migration, IMS z/OS V15 – Continuous Delivery Installation and Migration, IMS Performance Analyzer, IMS Guardium, IMS Systems Generation utilities, IMS Buffer Pool Tuning, IMS Dump Analysis, IMS -related ISV tools – BMC IMS Utilities, BMC IMS Mainview Monitor, Compuware IMS File-Aid.
- Experience on IBM Replication tools : IMS/IMS Replication, IMS KAFKA Replication QREP /CDC, IBM Program Product installation experience – SMP/e (Software Management Program/ extended)
- Perform mainframe database software upgrades coupled with administration and tuning to support DB2 environments.
