Description and Requirements
Job Summary
Responsible for leading and managing all aspects of industrial engineering and automation within the organization to optimize production processes, improve efficiency, and support the implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies. This role will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring cost-effective operations for an Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) company.
Key Responsibilities
1. Industrial Engineering
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Perform time studies, workflow analysis, and process evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and work instructions.
- Lead capacity planning, line balancing, and factory layout optimization to support production goals.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, yield, and operational metrics.
2. Automation and Smart Manufacturing
- Identify opportunities for automation and digital transformation in manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement automation solutions such as robotics, PLCs, vision systems, and IoT-enabled devices.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and integration of advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated systems.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety protocols for automation equipment.
3. Continuous Improvement
- Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, such as 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma, to achieve operational excellence.
- Lead cross-functional teams to execute improvement projects aimed at waste reduction, cycle time optimization, and productivity enhancement.
- Train and mentor staff on continuous improvement methodologies and best practices.
4. Leadership and Collaboration
- Manage a team of industrial engineers, automation specialists, and technicians, providing clear direction and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless product launches and manufacturing scalability.
- Act as a key liaison with customers, suppliers, and external stakeholders to address technical and operational challenges.
5. Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IPC standards.
- Maintain detailed documentation of processes, projects, and performance metrics for internal and external audits.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in industrial engineering, automation, or manufacturing roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
- Proven experience in the EMS or electronics manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in process optimization, industrial automation, and robotics.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and simulation tools.
- Knowledge of programming languages for PLCs (e.g., Ladder Logic) and automation systems.
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and Industry 4.0 technologies.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications:
- Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, PMP, or certifications in robotics/automation are advantageous.
