About the Role:Grade Level (for internal use):08The Team: The candidate will be part of the Data Enablement Team within the Index Management & Production Group (IMPG) which is responsible for the maintenance and calculation of S&P Dow Jones Indices.The Impact: Index Reference Data Analyst will research company information including but not limited to reference data management (i.e., Identifier and name changes, listing change etc.), validate prices used for index calculations and research shares and free float information. Index Reference Data Analyst must therefore understand global equity markets.What’s in it for you: This is a global role, with the opportunity to fully support the Data Enablement Team within IMPG. Index Reference Data Analyst is responsible for managing, validating and resolving outliers or exceptions for assigned data sets.Responsibilities: Research and Analysis on Market Driven EventsEnsure that the data universe is maintained in accordance with internal procedures and industry best practices.Manage reference data (stock, company and exchange information) and price-related data sets, review and resolve exceptions in QA processes in a timely manner following operational procedures and S&P Dow Jones Indices’ Policies & Practices – MethodologyEnsure that share and free float information are researched, validated and entered in our database and that supporting evidence is retained.Prioritize data related projects to improve workflows, data quality and systems for supported data set.Investigate and respond to all data related client requests (internal or external) within SLAs.Work with direct manager and leadership team to maintain proactive management of client escalations, issues and other items that require special handling.Price Validation and Quality ControlValidate system-captured prices. Must review captured prices against multiple sources and research and resolve any discrepancies under restrictive timelines.Customer Focus and Communication ResponsibilitiesProactively communicate any issues to the rest of the team and Team Lead, as appropriateClear communication and coordination with other team members and global teams on over-lapping tasks to ensure seamless handover from region to region.Maintain customer focus by considering the client impact of changes to indices, communicate changes to other impacted teams in a clear and timely manner.Provide timely, complete and accurate responses to client enquiries, work with our client experience team as appropriate.What We’re Looking For: Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in the finance, data management, computer science, or economics disciplines0-2 years of experience in relevant field, possess an open mind, be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required. Additional language skills would be considered an advantage.Good understanding of financial marketsMust be able to work independently as well as in a global team environment.Must be able to demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.Desired Skills:Familiarity with corporate filings and related documents, understanding of shares, free float, shareholding structure and potential impact on indices would be an advantage.Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and other standard office software’sProgramming skills and experience preferably in Python, VBA or SQL would be a plus.About S&P Global Dow Jones IndicesAt S&P Dow Jones Indices, we provide iconic and innovative index solutions backed by unparalleled expertise across the asset-class spectrum.
