JOB SUMMARY
As Head of Transport at DHL Global Forwarding, you'll oversee crucial aspects of VAS operations, focusing on primary transportation needs both internally and externally. Your role includes coordinating with the back office, operations teams, and customer service to ensure smooth operations. You'll also ensure compliance with statutory requirements concerning the transport of goods, playing a vital role in maintaining operational efficiency and regulatory adherence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
External Suppliers & Internal Coordination
•Enter rate contracts, service agreements, and KPI agreements with transporters (vendors).
•Manage relationships with government regulatory authorities such as BMC and the transport department.
•Support the CBC, OFR, and AFR departments in transport functions.
•Maintain and support interdepartmental relationships.
Business Performance & Results
•Achieve operational targets.
•Ensure departmental KPIs are maintained, displayed, and achieved.
•Manage transport margins (buy vs. sell).
Operational Excellence
•Ensure all vehicles are placed on time.
•Ensure correct fill-up of road permits, challans, and any other mandatory transport documents.
•Ensure timely delivery of cargo at customer premises.
•Track and trace shipments enroute.
•Manage detention and demurrage.
•Ensure direct reports understand and actively comply with the company’s occupational health and safety rules.
•Ensure new employees complete the induction program, covering awareness of key company policies and procedures.
•Monitor direct reports’ compliance with company policies and procedures within the workplace.
High-Performance Service Culture
•Develop a high-performance service culture within the functional department.
•Plan, organize, and direct an efficient and effective functional department.
•Develop IKOs/KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance.
•Conduct performance appraisals.
•Manage the allocation of appropriate resources and staff commitment to achieving global, regional, and country objectives and targets.
•Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Must Have
•Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
•10-12 years of experience in logistics management, preferably in freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics industries.
•In-depth understanding of the Indian Transport Market, including networks, practices, tariffs, and regulations.
•Demonstrate structured, efficient work processes and methods.
•Use sound judgment, manage risk, and anticipate the impact on overall business.
•Accomplish tasks in support of corporate goals.
•Experience in project management is advantageous.
