Job DescriptionThe Managing Director, Head of the Testing Center of Excellence (CoE) will lead, coordinate, and oversee all testing activities related to third-party resiliency, client resiliency testing, impact tolerance, SSC (State Street Corporation) resiliency testing, and crisis scenario testing. This role is critical for ensuring that State Street’s resilience strategies are robust, comprehensive, and rigorously tested. The Managing Director will work closely with business units, risk management, and external partners to design and execute a broad range of tests to validate State Street’s preparedness for various scenarios. Reporting to the Head of Operational Resilience (SVP), this role requires strong strategic thinking and extensive experience in resilience and business continuity testing.The Head of Testing CoE will build and foster a resilient testing culture aligned with State Street’s mission to safeguard operations and meet regulatory and industry standards. This leader will establish frameworks and practices that ensure the organization is well-prepared, adaptable, and rigorously tested against potential disruptions, driving continuous improvement and operational security.Key Responsibilities of the position include but will not be limited to: Lead the development and implementation of an annual resiliency testing calendar, covering client, third-party, and internal scenarios.Develop and apply impact tolerance thresholds to resilience testing, ensuring that testing aligns with organizational risk appetite.Oversee the creation and execution of diverse crisis scenarios, ensuring the organization’s preparedness for various types of disruptive events.Partner with Technology, Operations, Risk Management, and other key business units to design tests that support regulatory compliance and operational resilience objectives.Ensure that testing processes adhere to local and international regulatory standards, providing regular updates and tailored reports to internal governance committees and external regulators.Analyze and evaluate test outcomes, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to continuously improve State Street’s resilience posture.Collaborate with third-party vendors and clients to align on testing standards, conduct joint tests, and share relevant insights to foster mutual resilience.Develop a high-performing team by mentoring testing analysts and other team members, creating growth opportunities, and building a resilient and adaptable team culture.Experience:The required skills and qualifications are:Proven experience in developing and executing resiliency tests, including third-party, client, impact tolerance, and crisis scenario testing.Ability to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and report on multiple resilience testing programs simultaneously, managing priorities across various functional areas.Strong understanding of resilience regulations and compliance standards impacting the financial industry, including global requirements for third-party and operational resilience.Skilled in communicating complex testing outcomes and insights to senior stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and clients, building confidence in State Street’s resilience strategy.Capability to manage cross-functional teams and lead them toward shared resilience goals, proficient in both direct and matrix leadership across a global team.Ability to refine and develop new testing methods and scenarios that address emerging risks, strengthening State Street’s capacity to withstand and respond to unforeseen events.Commitment to evolving resilience testing standards and processes based on lessons learned, regulatory developments, and industry best practices.Proven ability to lead and influence global teams and transformational initiatives in large, complex, multinational organizations, in highly regulated financial services industry.Proven ability to influence and drive alignment across diverse teams and stakeholders, both internal and external.Detailed understanding of non-financial risk frameworks.Experience of working in an asset management or servicing business and/or a client centric organization, carrying material payments and settlements risk.Experience working with external auditors, regulators, and industry bodies.Experience presenting to senior executive stakeholder and relevant committeesWhy this role is important to us:Our function, the Testing Center of Excellence, is fundamental to State Street’s resilience and readiness for disruption.
