We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of MSS Recs Production.
Business: Markets & Security Services Operations
Role Purpose:
The role holder is responsible for leading the Reconciliations function supporting Funds Administration. The team consists of c 54 FTEs (Full Time Employee) in Colombo and c 74 FTEs in Kolkata. The purpose of the role is to strategically drive efficiency, control and innovation in the Reconciliations activities for HSBC and its Clients. In addition, the individual will provide entity oversight to the TLM Business Support Team based in Bangalore and will partner with Operations teams in other HSBC businesses striving for bank wide solutions to meet internal and external customer needs wherever possible.
In partnership with the Global Head of Reconciliations Production, the individual will be primarily responsible for delivering Strategy & Target Operating Model related initiatives:
- Setting the vision, strategy and ensuring the build out of a consistent and clearly defined global operating model for the Reconciliations Team.
- Defining and delivering an execution roadmap that delivers incremental benefit and leads to a target end-state consistent with the vision.
- Collaborate with the Bank wide Operations team to identify opportunities to partner and deliver solutions across businesses.
- Driving decision making on system changes and technical rationalization across the brokerage billing platforms.
- Defining and delivering an optimized location strategy that fully supports the needs of the business, maximizes value and builds in appropriate operational resilience.
- Acts as a Thought Leader, driving an innovative reconciliations and billing agenda and constantly expanding the ways in which technology, analytics and insight can be used to add value across the team
- Proactively pursues opportunities to provide solutions to clients.
Governance and Committee Memberships:
- The successful role holder will also occupy a seat at the MSS (Markets & Security Services) Ops RFB (Recs and Fee Billing) Leadership team. In this role they will be expected to work with colleagues across the MSS Ops teams [Front Office, PC, Risk, IT] to drive the reconciliations agenda.
Principal Responsibilities for Business, Customers and Stakeholders:
Management of Risk:
- Ensure the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as an organization
- Continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
- Ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
- Addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with entity management and/or the appropriate department.
Observation of Internal Controls:
- Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Understands, follows, and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
- Ensure compliance with GMP (Global Mandatory Procedure) and Operating Instructions.
Operational Effectiveness & Control:
- Delivering operational excellence utilizing metrics management tooling deployed across all products and jurisdictions.
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring.
- Streamline operational procedures to minimize cost, enhance system automation and ensures service quality and productivity.
- Protects the interests of the Bank and manage operational risk.
- Strategic execution of the people agenda building a diverse and optimal operational unit
Customers / Stakeholders:
- Connectivity to the Regional leads/stakeholders of the Reconciliation outputs and become a trusted partner to our clients (both internal & external).
- Drives and maintains the connectivity and inclusion across the global operational teams within Reconciliations.
- Forms a strategic partnership with the Risk functions supporting Brokerage Billing.
- Drives partnership with Technology and other support functions to achieve seamless execution of the Reconciliations product.
Strategy & Transformation:
- Champion strategic initiatives to drive scalability and efficiency in Reconciliations Operations construct.
- Partner with Reconciliations Strategy and Change Team to deliver change management initiatives and accelerate transformation across multiple areas.
- Deliver top of the class client and internal stakeholder strategy to ensure priorities are aligned to business expectations and transformation initiatives will effectively support business growth.
