Job Details:Head of IT Application Services
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of IT Application Services to lead and manage our global IT Application landscape across CTS. They will be responsible for the strategic planning, day to day operations, delivery of new services and solutions and capacity planning to ensure IT Applications meets the current and future requirements of our CTS customers.
The ideal candidate will oversee application maintenance, release management, monitoring, capacity planning, and security operations. This role demands a leader with deep technical expertise, strong operational oversight, and a track record of delivering high-performing, secure, and scalable applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Maintenance & Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of enterprise applications from development to decommissioning.
- Ensure timely updates, patches, and upgrades for business-critical applications.
- Implement best practices for performance tuning, issue resolution, and optimization.
Application Release & Deployment
- Define and enforce release management processes to ensure seamless application deployments.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement CI/CD pipelines for efficient release cycles.
- Minimize application downtime and ensure smooth version rollouts.
Application Monitoring & Capacity Planning
- Implement robust monitoring tools to track application performance, uptime, and usage trends.
- Plan and manage application capacity, ensuring scalability for future business needs.
- Establish proactive measures to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Database Administration & Data Management
- Oversee database administration activities, ensuring high availability and data integrity.
- Implement data backup, recovery strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
- Ensure database security, compliance, and best practices are adhered to.
Security Operations & Compliance
- Enforce security policies to safeguard applications from vulnerabilities and cyber threats.
- Work with cybersecurity teams to implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and industry security standards (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and mentor a team of application support, database administrators, and release managers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within services and the wider CTS organization to drive IT innovation and efficiency.
- Lead AOP (Annual Operating Plan) planning, drive cost efficiencies, and ensure financial targets are met while maintaining high service standards.
- Leads IT Application specialists in multiple global locations ensuring alignment to strategy and daily operations.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 12+ years of experience in application services, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong expertise in application maintenance, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Hands-on experience in database administration and backup/recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of IT security frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Experience in capacity planning, CI/CD, and release management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Certifications:
- ITIL Foundation Certification
- AWS/Azure Certified Solutions Architect
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) / Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- CISSP / CISM (Security Certification)
