We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Data & Analytics.


Business: HSBC Global Asset Management


The purpose of this role is to lead the local Bangalore teams within the Data & Analytics and provide oversight and operational support for key data services within the Asset Management business (both public and private assets). The role holder must have both leadership and senior stakeholder management skills.


The Head of Data & Analytics, Bangalore will work directly for the Global Head of Data & Analytics to engage and lead a team to focus on the execution of improvements in data management, data quality, records and data analytics to support global information management reporting, compliance, and business strategy initiatives and automation.


Asset Management complexity will require intensive understanding with all areas of the business as the role defines and oversees the operating level strategy and the ultimate delivery of data in accordance with this.


The role engages and must work in partnership with line of business colleagues to develop key indicators across AMG (Asset Management Group) to enhance process management capabilities, aiming to provide significant business benefits such as reduced costs, improved client experience, reduced operational risk, better management information for business decision making and increased revenue.


Principal responsibilities:


  • Assume local responsibility for all teams within the Data & Analytics:


      • Data Stewardship of core data services (MDM systems and data standardisation layers).
      • Data change delivery (Data Transformation & small BAU ( Business As Usual )change.
      • Analytics, Data Science & AI – promoting the utilisation of both traditional and generative AI across the Assert Management organization.
  • Global responsibility for the Data Management Support (BAU) function, requiring the role holder to have experience in leading support teams.
  • Function proactively by championing data as a strategic business asset and driver of revenue.
  • Be responsible for defining programs of work associated with re-engineering and delivery of data related outcomes.
  • Ensure there is appropriate governance globally to manage the spend and ensure close alignment to the globally defined data strategy.

Role Context:


  • The role is within the HSBC AMG (Asset Management Group) Data & Analytics and reports to the Global Head of Data & Analytics. The role holder will be the primary owner of support services for critical data services that the team provides, such as – Security Master System, Investment Data System, Funds Data Service, Client Account Master, TA Data Service, ESG Data Service and more.

Observation of Internal Controls:


  • The jobholder will adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls and will implement the Group compliance policy by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures.
  • The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
  • The following statement is only for roles with managerial or specific Compliance responsibilities.
  • The jobholder will implement measures to contain compliance risk across the business area. This will be achieved by liaising with Compliance department about business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
