We are seeking a talented individual to join our Energy team at Marsh India Insurance Brokers Pvt Ltd. This role will be based in Gurugram. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.


Graduate Trainee - Marsh Energy & Power, Global Energy and Power Risk Engineering (GERE)


We will count on you to:


The successful candidate will be expected to execute following key work streams;


1.Enhanced Data Analytics (80% of time)

The Risk Engineering Survey process is very much the foundation stone for Marsh’s Risk Engineering delivery to Clients, and this leads on to a range of key services and analytics supporting insurance placement.


We use analytics such as benchmarking and recommendation analysis to demonstrate to Insurers, and other key client leadership teams, the risk quality, but also, importantly, where clients are “Best In Class” and or where opportunities might exist to improve versus peers.


Data analytics to identify and steward the performance of our clients are anticipated to make up the majority of the candidate’s role. You will be responsible for maintaining data sets, as well as developing new techniques for reviewing the data to present opportunities and actions for our clients to improve.


The analytics work will help the candidate to develop an understanding of energy and power operations, risk quality assessments, process safety improvements as well as to develop client engagement and client leadership skills.


The analytics work will primarily support Marsh clients in India, Middle East and Africa.


2.Risk Engineering Survey Support (20% of time)

This is the core offering of Marsh’s Global Energy Risk Engineering (GERE) team and is crucial to successful placement of insurance within the energy industry. The team covers upstream & downstream oil & gas, petrochemicals, construction & power industries.


The output is a typical engineering report details:


  • Description of the site operations including hardware, management systems and emergency response details.
  • An analysis of loss prevention / mitigation features.
  • A ranking of the quality of the site and recommendations for improvement.
  • Estimation of property damage, often using our bespoke modelling software.

An Associate Risk Engineer will also play support role in new project reviews, as well as political violence surveys.


What you need to have:


Degree in B.Tech, B.E (Chemical Engineering)


What makes you stand out?


  • Progressing towards a university degree in chemical or process engineering.
  • Substantial interest in the energy industry preferably in refining or petrochemicals operations i.e. with complex, integrated assets.
  • Exposure to business reporting fundamentals through management studies courses or similar.
  • Analytical, confident and proactive thinker.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills would be beneficial.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload.
