Job Description

Lead sourcing activities for specific geographical areas to identify, qualify and implement new sources of supply to be used on global basis in support of
John Crane Category Strategies.




Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:


• Lead market intelligence efforts for potential markets and suppliers according to Category inquiries or expectations.


• Acquire and share market and technology trends according to Category future demands or expectations.


• Follow RFI and preliminary financial risk analysis, to screen and identify potential suppliers and their associated risk.


• Define appropriate assessment criteria to streamline supplier evaluation, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the total cost of ownership, and to further highlight the advantages of supplier onboarding.


• Lead negotiations to create added value through a deep understanding of the supply chain.


• Partner with the Quality and Engineering teams to fully understand the requirements on drawing, specification, as well as inspection method, to support a mutual understanding of technical requirements between the parties.


• Partner with the Quality and Engineering teams to develop suppliers' processes, manufacturing capabilities, and skills to meet business requirements..


• Coordinate the internal approval process for new supplier, new material, new mfg process, first article approvals.


• Support the supplier business review in collaboration with Category Manager.


• Support Category Manager’s strategy execution in assigned geographical areas


• Development of sourcing strategies for assigned geographical areas


• Research and evaluate new sources of supply, communicate opportunities with cross functional teams and make recommendations on new suppliers and designs/materials to reduce costs and improve lead times, and/or to meet local content requirements, and/or to mitigate geopolitical risks.


• Alignment with Global Category Managers and Category Strategies. Manage qualification processes including material approvals.


• Identification of suitably qualified and experienced suppliers to support the needs of John Crane.
