Mission Statement: The Global Customs Classification Analyst will ensure Product Customs classification is carried out diligently in his/her role as subject matter expert. He/She will be responsible and ensure Global and Country specific regulations are followed in the classification of materials, software, and technology under the Hitachi Energy Product Portfolio. Your Responsibilities: Responsible for classifying Hitachi Energy commodities, software, and technology with Harmonized Tariff System Numbers (HTS) for Americas, EU, Middle East, and Asian. Countries. Responsible for classifying commodities, software, and technology with Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) according to the Bureau of Industry and Security Commerce Control List (CCL) and ECNs with other EU, Asia and Middle east country laws and regulations. Preparation & Presentation of Product Classification Reports. Regular analysis of Hitachi Energy products weekly, monthly. Review of the ECN/ECCN and HTS classifications with the (Country) Trade Compliance Officer, update master data in SAP GTS with ECN/ECCN and HTS classification as required. Conduct periodic sessions on the current performance and identify process fixes for areas of improvement. Establish and maintain a central database of global Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS), Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) and duty / tax rates for all products. Submit binding rulings when necessary and applicable. Your Background: Bachelor’s / Post Graduate degree and/or equivalent. 4+ years of experience. Working knowledge of SAP/GTS. Working knowledge of Global Trade Compliance. Ability to communicate with engineers and understand technical drawings. Ability to understand technical data related to our products. Ability to understand technologies, and software (product description, HTS code, ECN/ECCN numbers) and/or information required for classification of products in our catalogue. Ability to research discrepancies and provide substantiation to support classification claims in a timely manner. Understand current regulatory environments and future development of regulations. Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
