The Chief Procurement Officer is reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, member of the Sanofi executive committee. The Procurement organization is divided into five Domains (Manufacturing & Supply, Marketing & Sales, Professional Services, Scientific & Medical and Digital) leveraging Global Procurement Operations and the Procurement Center of Excellence & Transformation. The yearly spend coverage is around 15B€ with a special focus on Procurement excellence, Supplier Diversity and Sustainability. Closely collaborating with Finance, Business Operations and Business Units, Procurement is instrumental in achieving cost efficiency and savings. Procurement plays a critical role in optimizing Business Operational Impact with a focus on driving simplification, efficiency, and productivity. It forges strategic partnerships with suppliers, prioritizing innovation and data driven solutions.

As Global Category Buyer Raw Materials, you will be pivotal in developing, evolving, and executing strategic sourcing strategies for raw materials, contributing directly to our manufacturing and supply chain excellence. Due to one of the strongest launch product pipelines in the pharma industry, you will spearhead innovation & seamless collaboration with strategic partners to ensure supply security, speed to market, right cost base and manufacturability both for commercial and pre-launch activities.
Main responsibilities:
Negotiate worldwide, deliver savings based on anticipation and consolidation of all business needs
Manage Global Business Reviews with strategic partners to ensure ambition and execution in both sides.
Support develop innovative sub-category strategies that have measurable benefit for Sanofi out of the Asia-Pacific region
Scout existing and potential suppliers in different subcategories such as Single Use Systems, mRNA, APIs, Organic Intermediates.
Leverage both generative and predictive Artificial Intelligence in sourcing, scenario and result augmentation
Ensure procurement technical excellence such as TCO, SRM, Market Intelligence, Risk Management, Innovation, Digital, CSR, HSE, Compliance, Quality at Global Level
Directly impact multi-billion company revenue and support as well new product launches across various modalities (mammalian, microbiological, gene therapy, vaccines) over the next 5 years
Manage minimum € 65 million spend (2024 figures), targeting 10% net savings across
Oversee key account management for strategic suppliers managing relationships
About you:
Experience: Strategic Sourcing, Negotiation and Supplier Management, for Raw Materials in R&D or in Manufacturing, specifically in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Supplier landscape know-how & demonstrated track record of achieving significant cost savings.
Soft skills & Technical skills: Global sourcing experience, knowledge of Raw Materials suppliers landscapes along with their respective capabilities. Strong negotiation and contract management skills with the ability to lead complex supplier relationships. Confident and capable in interacting with key stakeholders and suppliers. Strong understanding of raw materials’ procurement value chain from R&D up to LCM, their supply chain dynamics and industry trends. Assertive, high-level communicator, good organizational skills, excellent presentation skills, Team player with excellent interpersonal sensitivity. Experienced and confident in managing complex and undefined business situations in a multi-cultural environment. Influential management, ability to convince and persuade others regarding appropriate solutions. High sense of Ethics, Business integrity and compliance in doing business
Education: Minimum University degree from an accredited College or University. Procurement certifications are plus.
Language: Excellent command of English is a must. French is a plus.
