Global Backup Analyst

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Backup Analyst with expertise in backup solutions, storage, data recovery, and disaster recovery. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of hands-on experience, particularly with Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR), flexible, adaptable and committed to improving his/her skills. The candidate will be responsible for managing backup and recovery processes, ensuring data integrity, and assisting with disaster recovery planning and execution. Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices will be key in managing and improving the everyday tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

•   Backup & Recovery Management:

1. Administer and monitor the backup environment to ensure data protection and recovery in a timely and efficient manner.
2.  Perform regular backup and restore tests to verify the integrity and accuracy of backup data.
3.  Manage and support Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) and associated technologies.
4.  Assist in the planning, implementation, and testing of disaster recovery solutions.
5.  Ensure we meet Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs).
6.  Help identify and mitigate potential risks related to data loss or service disruption.

•    Storage Management:

1.  Oversee the configuration and management of storage systems for backup solutions.
2.  Perform regular capacity assessments to ensure sufficient storage for backup and recovery needs; troubleshoot and resolve any storage-related issues.

•    Troubleshooting and Support & Service Management:

1.  Investigate and resolve failures, errors, and performance issues promptly.
2. Provide tier-2 and tier-3 support, participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
3.  Apply ITIL based frameworks to ensure the best practices; contribute to continuous improvement by identifying areas for process optimization and implementing changes.

•    Documentation & Reporting:

1.  Maintain accurate documentation for the actual procedures, policies and configurations. Generate and analyze reports to ensure compliance and performance standards are met.
2.  Provide periodic status reports to leadership regarding infrastructure health, success rates, and DR preparedness.
3. Ensure services align with business needs and agreed service level agreements (SLAs)

•    Continuous Improvement:

1. Stay current with the latest trends, technologies and best practices.
2. Recommend and implement process improvements and optimizations.

•    Collaboration & Communication:

1.  Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to align efforts with broader organizational objectives.
2.  Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding backup status, incidents, and progress on recovery efforts.
    

•    Experience:

1.  At least 2-3 years of experience working in a backup or storage-focused role, with hands-on experience managing Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR).
2. Solid understanding of data recovery, backup operations, and disaster recovery processes.
3. Experience with storage technologies (e.g., disk-based, tape-based, Dell Data domain, Cloud, etc.) is a must.

•    Technical Skills:

1.  Knowledge of backup strategies, encryption, compression, and deduplication technologies, including troubleshooting and optimization.
2.  Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
