Job Description
  • Assist in preparing GIS and Remote Sensing components for the development of Extreme Event Solutions (EES) models.
  • Handle large-scale GIS dataset preparation to support model development, ensuring data accuracy and usability.
  • Perform tasks such as digitization/editing, geo-referencing, map projections, reformatting, and vector-to-raster conversions.
  • Conduct advanced image classification, topology checking, cartography, and process datasets from satellite, aerial, and LiDAR sources.
  • Generate and maintain geospatial databases, ensuring comprehensive data handling for analysis and modeling.
  • Collect and update Elevation, Land Use/Land Cover, Soil Type data, as well as industry exposure data related to building and infrastructure footprints.
  • Source geospatial data from various national, state, and regional portals to meet specific project requirements.
  • Maintain and update geospatial datasets to ensure their relevance for model development and analysis.
  • Conduct raster spatial analysis and other geoprocessing techniques to extract insights from complex datasets.
  • Automate GIS workflows and explore innovative solutions to improve efficiency in geoprocessing tasks.
  • Analyze and validate results, presenting them effectively through spreadsheets, charts, and maps.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary research teams, particularly supporting flood risk modeling and other spatial analysis tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to best GIS practices while coordinating with other team members on project goals.
  • Write technical documentation for internal use, detailing processes, methodologies, and findings.

Prepare client-ready reports and deliverables, ensuring clarity and professionalism in all communications.



Qualifications

Educational Qualification:


M Tech or M.Sc or B Tech.(in Geo-Informatics/Geography/Remote Sensing & GIS) or Spatial Technologies


Total Experience: 1-3 years


Must-Have skills:


  • Expert in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ERDAS, ENVI, IDRISI, QGIS, Google Earth Pro
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Extensions: Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Image Analyst, Network Analyst
  • Strong geo-analytics and geoprocessing skills, especially in raster data formats
  • Solid understanding of Remote Sensing concepts
  • Proficient in Python, including GIS-related libraries such as ArcPy, GDAL, Fiona, Shapely, Geopandas, Rasterio, PyProj etc.
  • Proficiency in SQL and R
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning principles as applied to GIS
  • Experience in ensuring project completion with high quality and on time
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining GIS databases and conducting spatial analysis
  • Excellent communication skills for project documentation and technical presentations
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, while also working independently
  • Willingness to learn and apply new technologies
  • Open to feedback, with self-motivation to grow within the Extreme Event Solution team

Nice-To-Have:


  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise, C#, HTML, JAVA, C++, MATLAB, PowerBI and Project Place
  • Familiarity with geo-statistical techniques and data mining
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong mathematical and statistical background
  • Interest in learning catastrophe modeling and the insurance industry
