The position is in the Portfolio Management Engineering team which sits within Aladdin. This team is embarking on a greenfield project to transform a mature PM tool set into an integrated persona-based platform with streamlined user workflows and a high degree of automation and scale. The team works closely with BlackRock portfolio managers as well as helping deliver this to external clients. They also partner closely with world class product managers, AI engineers, AI researchers, UX designers, quality assurance engineers and client support teams to deliver high quality, scalable and resilient PM capabilities.
The team is looking for an ambitious hands-on software engineer to work in a team which is delivering AI solutions to streamline and enhance user workflows within the portfolio management space. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be encouraged and empowered to bring your ideas forward to help shape our technology, process, and products. This will help you become a respected and successful player in our diverse team.
Responsibilities include:
Help design AI solutions which streamline and enhance the next generation of the world’s best investment platform
Contribute to an agile development team working with designers, analysts, users and leads
Apply quality software engineering practices through all phases of development
Collaborate with team members in a multi-office, multi-country environment
Ensure resilience and stability through quality code reviews, unit, regression and user acceptance testing and level two production support
Being a great teammate, helping and respecting others, continually improving our skills, product and agile process
Partner with client support staff to help ensure our tools are reliable and easy to use
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline required, Master's degree preferred (computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics, physics, engineering or related)
Intellectual curiosity and a passion for data and emerging technology is a must
Ability to work together as part of a geographically distributed team with multiple collaborators
Ownership of the design and technical quality of a significant application, system, or key component and experience in presenting to stakeholders
Technology savvy and able to work in multiple systems and languages
Experience in scheduling and integrating deliverables from other internal development teams
Knowledge of natural language processing and Gen AI is preferred
5+ years of experience in Java, SQL and Python for programming, data analysis, and modelling
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Nice to have or a passion to learn on the job:
Exposure to Front-end development, ideally with Angular, TypeScript and Micro-frontends
Exposure to high scale distributed technology like Kafka, Mongo, Ignite, Redis
Exposure to building microservices and APIs ideally with REST, Kafka or gRPC

Our hybrid work model
