Strategy and Transformation Director - GBS

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of GBS Strategy and Transformation, the GBS Strategy and Transformation Director will be a critical member of our Global Business Services organization providing strategic vision, leadership, and coordination for GBS. This role is charged with creating, communicating, and enabling GBS scope and initiatives in a multi-year roadmap, to deliver GBS value to the organization. This role will drive the multi-year strategic planning process for GBS, convert GBS strategy into transformation, build and manage several enabling GBS frameworks and deliverables (e.g., business cases, service catalog, performance management), and lead a portfolio of enabling projects, including location and sourcing strategy.
Role and Responsibilities
Strategic GBS Visioning and Strategy:
Lead multi-year plan process for GBS, to identify new value levers and move up the value chain for GBS scope
Align GBS strategy to overall Iron Mountain strategy
Partner with GBS leadership team and executive business / operational leaders to identify, build, and implement GBS roadmaps that support cost savings, productivity gains, and other value levers
Apply critical analytic skills to advance complex GBS projects with high strategic importance and exposure
Stay current on external GBS trends, benchmarking, and best practices and apply them to IRM GBS strategy efforts
Build value realization framework to identify and track value drivers from GBS
Build and track multi-year GBS business cases
GBS Transformation:
Build and own repeatable, scalable approach to identify, design, and transition service delivery scope into GBS
Drive decision-making and implementation efforts on GBS service delivery models, including sourcing/BPO strategy and location strategy
Scope and execute projects with limited oversight from the GBS Head of Strategy and Transformation
Manage and coordinate resources both within GBS and from other functions / businesses
Quickly connect dots to solve novel problems, including those where the underlying information or data are not necessarily clear
Drive the organization to make decisions and, once made, design and execute on implementation plans to ensure strategy is converted to action
Build GBS strategy and transformation capabilities within IRM, including recruiting and leading team
Governance and Performance Management:
Develop and implement performance management frameworks to ensure standardized, transparent tracking and reporting of GBS performance
Work with GBS leadership team to implement and track performance management inputs
Prepare materials for and support facilitation of recurring governance meetings with executive business and operational stakeholders, including IRM Executive Leadership Team, GBS Steering Committee, GBS Leadership Team, and other forums
Change Leadership and Stakeholder Management:
Lead high-impact interaction with GBS leadership and business line Executive and Operational management
Distill complex projects into clear and compelling communications designed to drive action
Draw insights from multiple quantitative and qualitative data sets
Champion change management efforts, communicating effectively to drive alignment, encourage buy-in, and ensure seamless adoption of new processes
Ideal Candidate Characteristics & Credentials
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or transformation, for large, multinational and matrixed environments. Experience in GBS or shared services required.
Certifications: Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt or Master Black Belt), PMP and/or other relevant certifications preferred.
Strategic Problem Solving: Ability to analyze complex issues, design effective solutions, and drive impact in a large-scale, matrixed organization.
Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to lead and govern projects with a structured approach, ensuring consistency, transparency, and accountability.
Finance: Strong understanding of business case development, GBS P&L, and value drivers.
Leadership & Change Management: Proven track record of leading teams, driving change, and managing large-scale transformation initiatives.
Communication & Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and present effectively to senior leaders.
