Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: As a mechanical design engineer for the Ancillary Systems, the candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis and implementation of Ancillary systems and components. The candidate will interface with teams across Solar’s business units to explore methodologies to improve quality and reduce cost. The candidate will prioritize opportunities to support sales, resolve field issues, or improve customer experience. Initial area of focus will include inlet system design, including filtration and silencing. Candidate will support existing product with sales and field support, while also developing new concepts and designs. The candidate should have exceptional creativity, attention to detail, and is expected to explore advanced analytical concepts. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in with 5-7 years of experience in Mechanical or related Engineering field Background and working knowledge of Gas Turbine Principles and Operation Experience in the use of CAD modeling and PLM software, such as CREO and Windchill Experience in Engineering Change Requests or Engineering Change Management 2-3 years of Ventilation / HVAC Desing experience in Steam / Gas Turbine products Experience understanding or applying FEA software results. Experience in supplier interaction and writing and evaluating technical supplier specifications. Candidate should be capable of working effectively under their own initiative as well as part of a team. The candidate should be able to document and communicate ideas clearly. Experience with Scaled Agile Engineering processes added advantage. Skill Descriptors Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organisational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance. Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions. Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns. Identifies the major forces, events and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand. Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions. Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Knowledge of design for manufacturability guidelines, methodologies, and use cases; ability to use this knowledge to optimize product designs and manufacturing operations. Analyzes the implementation challenges of DFM methodologies and shares them with their supervisors. Documents each stage of the design process for audit and review purposes. Follows standard guidelines and best practices while carrying out DFM procedures. Implements DFM methodologies to standardize product designs, simplify operations, and reduce costs for certain types of manufacturing processes.
