Job Description
The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for assisting in the management and oversight of all food and beverage operations within a hospitality establishment. This role focuses on ensuring high standards of service, quality, and efficiency while maintaining a positive guest experience. The Food & Beverage Manager and other departments to meet financial targets, maintain inventory control, and ensure a smooth operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Assist in overseeing daily food and beverage operations, ensuring that service standards and cleanliness are maintained.
- Supervise staff during shifts, providing direction, guidance, and feedback to ensure efficient service.
- Ensure smooth flow between kitchen and front-of-house teams, particularly during peak service times.
- Address guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of food, beverages, and supplies, placing orders.
Staff Management & Training:
- Assist in recruiting, training, and managing front-of-house and back-of-house staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to improve team performance.
- Ensure staff adhere to health and safety regulations, including sanitation and food safety protocols.
- Organize team schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels for shifts.
Customer Service & Experience:
- Ensure all guests receive high-quality service and resolve any service-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Create an atmosphere that enhances the guest experience, ensuring consistency and attention to detail.
- Actively interact with guests to build rapport and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Financial Management:
- Assist with managing the food and beverage budget and ensuring the department meets revenue and cost targets.
- Help control costs related to food, beverages, and labor.
- Prepare financial reports and assist with analyzing trends and performance metrics to optimize profitability.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure the establishment adheres to health, safety, and liquor laws, including regular checks and staff training.
- Monitor hygiene and cleanliness standards, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Perform regular inspections of equipment and premises to maintain safety and prevent hazards.
Marketing & Promotions:
- Support the creation and implementation of promotional activities, events, and marketing strategies to boost sales and attract new guests.
- Assist with menu development, offering suggestions based on customer preferences, seasonal trends, and market demands.
Communication:
- Maintain clear communication with management and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Attend meetings, provide input, and collaborate on operational strategies and improvements.
- Assist in reporting any maintenance or operational issues to the relevant departments for timely resolution.
Qualifications
Profile
Knowledge and Experience
Diploma in Hospitality Management/Food & Beverage preferred
Additional certification(s) in Food & Beverage will be an advantage
Experienced in all aspects of banquet service, especially in local function styles
Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity with proven records in delivering banquet operating results.
Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language
Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages will be an advantage
Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
